what's the deal with "nullifying"?

Essentially it refers to a jury returning a "not guilty" verdict when the case is clearly proven and a "guilty" verdict should have been rendered.

A jury can basically say "this person did this crime but they had a valid reason to do so... so we will not find the suspect guilty"

Essentially nullifying the law

He wants the jury to nullify it

"Am i muted?"
"No."
"The jury needs to know that they can nullify"
"You're muted now."

From the courtroom reaction there is not a chance in hell of nullifying.

Thought I read where his mom said it was an all white jury. Not gonna get the OJ treatment if true.

Shouldn’t have run people over In Waukesha county if he wanted black jurors

It is... 10 men, 6 women all white (1 has been excused... don't know if it was a man or woman)

Don't think he's going to find much sympathy among those jurors. I'm sure half of them have a connection to the parade in some form.

He is going to lose the ability to close when, not if, he brings up jury nullification.

I think he'll come out and claim the system is racist and a black man can't be afforded a fair trial and they should refuse based on that reason

Steve is growing on me big time on Rekieta stream. He lays things out very nicely.

Socially awkward a bit as I previously said, but I retract "weird".

It is. I was looking at Waukesha demographics this afternoon and it's something like 87% white and less than 2% black with ~5% two or more races but not necessarily all black/white.

If they think the crime shouldn't be illegal, among other things.

In this case? No way they would.

But consider a self-defense case or a father murdering his child’s rapist.

I would nullify that if possible.

So she used roughly 45-50 minutes of her hour

She can re-cross for like 10 minutes if she wants after his close

I read something that stated most nullification verdicts come in drug cases.

Usually nullification is used as a protest against a disagreeable law.

He's extremely knowledgeable. I think he's generally an awkward guy but the fact that he's just starting to get into joining live streams amplifies that.
