My old man made it almost exactly one year after his stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. It was surreal watching him breathe his last. The finality hasn’t quite sunk in yet and I find it helpful to not think about it.

Interesting timing for this topic. We just learned my father has stage 4 cancer and docs are saying a month or two left.

God I’m so sorry man. I cannot imagine knowing how soon either of mine were going to pass. If you want my advice, look into the medical mj tincture if it’s available where you live and keep him comfortable. I’m so sorry man. I pray for your family.

I’m so sorry bro. My mom just had a bone scan done today to determine if the reason her pains gotten worse could be from bone cancer or not. Her dad had it. She finds out the results in the morning and I’m terrified. I know I’m not gonna be able to sleep tonight. She’s been in tears from pain and worrying about the results.

My mom called me by my brother's name on the phone tonight and when I said no your other son, she went blank.

I think I'm shutting down, which can't be healthy.

Can you change to a new doc who may be agreeable to CBD OR THC?

Thank you. Believe me, I thought of the MMJ and while I live in a friendly state for such things, he does not. He's "old school" enough that he wouldn't hear of it anyway.

I tend to think the docs are fairly spot on with their timing. Partly because dad has taken the approach of "if you can't cure it, don't prolong the BS with treatment that makes me feel WORSE, let's get on with it".

Harsh, but I kinda respect that viewpoint too.

Look man, you don’t. I was in a coma for a week last year from pneumonia in both of my lungs, and the doctors asked my parents if they wanted to pull the plug. As hard as this shits gonna be, I’d never in a million years wish for my parents to have to endure life without their son instead of me dealing with the natural order of things. My dad would turn into Rust Cohle from True Detective.

If I get the chance to get old, and I get to the point that I’m terminal or unable to care for myself...at that point, right before it gets too bad, I want a big party. Lots of whisky, good whiskey and wine from my collection. Let it all be recorded, let the stories, good and bad, be told. As many friends and relatives that are still living can come and share and laugh and party. Spare no expense.

And then I want to go fishing. And not come back in some sad, sorry state.

Let me go out full of life and vigor and vim. Piss and vinegar to the end.

I Don’t want to be some burden, pissing and shitting myself in some wretched carrying on of a broken vessel. If I can’t write a rhyme or tell a story then let me go, let me venture into that great unknown and join the countless fallen with some dignity once more.

Same here. I've already told my wife, you see me head out on my motorcycle without my helmet - don't wait up.

Not sure. Risk Management foots the bill for her treatment, so I’m not sure that they’d ok her switching doctors for something like that. She’s awaiting a settlement that’s going to trial in April, so she’d be able to pay for it once that happens. I’ve offered to pay for the visits and prescription of oil, but she’s been hardcore against anything weed related for a long time. Lately I’ve been able to show her that the stigma is bullshite and shown her peoples stories and testimonies that’ve gotten their quality of life back after starting it, but she isn’t fully convinced. Hard-headed little Italian woman

She had 5 heart bypasses two years ago, so that also factors into her situation as far as what she takes. I’d be scared to ween her off.

I hate to make a heavy topic even heavier, but what’s your stance on assisted death/suicide? Me and Mom have talked about it before, and we’re both Catholic, yet we boyh believe people that live with chronic, incurable illness should have freedom to choice to end the suffering with euthanasia.

A father passing at 71 underneath a four wheeler is probably worse

My father died suddenly and unexpectedly at age 75 after having a life free of any health issues. After seeing the anguish and despair that dominated the live’s of many of our friends who spent years caring for parents with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other chronic diseases, my siblings and I feel like we were blessed to have him leave us with so little burden.

Just put 1000 mg cbd full spectrum in her coffee. She’ll never know, but her day will be much better.
