Do they tend to hold their value and appreciate, or depreciate? Considering getting this, but didn't know about resale value.

People who buy certain types of Rolex. Or you can wait forever. I don't think its quite the same with Omega because those aren't as scarce. Don't take my word though, I'm just a novice.

I certainly wouldn't buy a watch as an investment.

Buy it because it speaks to you and you love it. Not for what you think it might be worth later.

Omega is better than others.

And appreciating and paying more than new aren't the same thing. New price could go up 10% a year and a watch might “appreciate” 2% a year.

Keep a watch for a decade and you might be able to sell for more than you paid but still be less then a new one.

Yeah you shouldnt consider that as an investment.

It will lose some value but bigger problem is finding a reasonable buyer when you want to sell it

an insane amount of rolex buyers. Rolex has tightened their grip on the market and limited the supply chain causing prices to go crazy

To the OP, omegas hold value for the most part, the dont nearly appreciate like Rolex has done

You lose 40% (or more) the second you walk out of the store. Omegas can be had at significant discounts. If you are worried about value retention you are going to have to go with Rolex (if you can even get one)

The condition that it’s in matters a whole lot when reselling.

The general rule for Omega’s if you’re buying at full retail price expect it depreciate 20-40%. But if you’re getting it at a deal that could offset the depreciation.

The exception too this is the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, it tends to hold its value better than the rest because it’s always in demand.

It's a great watch. I love mine. You won't want to sell it.

Thanks- I love the look.

Amazon has it listed for $3680.00. Do you think that's reasonable, or not necessarily?

I do surveys occasionally and have built up $5200 in Amazon gift cards, but I hate to use such a big chunk. On the bright side, it's a cool idea to get an Omega for free.

Nice watch, problem is they make what seems 50 different styles of the speedmaster. Even the classic stylee "Moon watch" version is not rare by any means, which decreases the value because they are so readily available.

Buy because you like it, not because of reasle.

So rather than just blow the credit, I could have something that could be sold and have a decent amount of cash, rather than nickel and dime the nest egg away.

You don't like the thread? Don't respond

Been doing those surveys since around 2007. I think counting up, I've had about $20,000 worth of Amazon stuff that I've gotten over the years total.
