For buying, Watch Recon can be helpful. It compiles listings from watchuseek, r/watchexchange, Rolex forums.

Thanks! I’ll have to check that out. So far I had found watchuseek, and from replies I’m checking out chrono24 too. I’m really digging Hamilton for the price point. Specifically the Hamilton Intra-matic Auto Chrono. From what I’ve seen and read, an awesome maker with classic styles, but still affordable enough to justify the addition.
Thanks again to everyone. If u haven’t already a cool 20 minutes spent on YT, check out Kevin O’Leary and Teddy Baldassarre (SP?) I think they call it Wine and Watches or something. Pretty cool stuff.
ETA: didn’t realize I’m clearly ripping upgrayedd with my choice of Hamilton pieces lol. Props baw!

Not to hijack this thread, but I inherited a Rolex DateJust from my father, pristine condition as it was rarely worn and was given to him as retirement gift about 20 years ago. I would like to have it appraised for insurance purposes and serviced to wear.
Could any of you recommend someone in the general Baton Rouge area that could appraise and service for me - I’m aware of Lee Micheals as one option, but are there others service providers in the general area you’d recommend or prefer? TIA.

I’m not from BR so I’m not the one to ask. I’d be glad to just keep the thread going. Not hijacking the thread at all. I hope others join in give recommendations, show some of their pieces, etc. I think it was Obtuse a while back that showed some of his collection that was friggen beautiful.
LC area, Nederlands is good, I used them for my Wolf winder and watch roll.
Alex area, Schnacks sized my DJ for me, and will most likely do my service for me.

I agree. I liked using Chrono24.com for my purchase.
I wanted one really nice watch for certain occasions and felt confidant the site and reviews were legit about the sellers. I bought an Omega and once I got it in I brought to a jeweler for verification and peace of mind.
Very easy and lots of options to choose.

This thread title put a question in my mind.
Do they have watch repo men?
Do they have watch repo men?

I'm sure Lee Michaels will just send it to Rolex service center in Dallas. They will contact you with an estimate. If you choose to proceed, they will get it running great and looking like new. Some people choose not to have their "vintage" watches polished because it alters the original integrity of the case.

Kind of hard to go it some ones house without getting shot. I'm assuming depending on the amount and credit the dealer can/will shut the deal down based on your history.

I know you said BR, but I got my datejust appraised at Savoie fine jewelry in Metairie. (about 10 years ago).
I was very happy with them.
For service, I send it myself directly to Rolex USA. I think they want you to send it to the service center nearest you, which would be Dallas.
I last sent mine to Rolex NY a couple of years ago (I live in New England), and was very happy with the result.

Some TDer’s with more knowledge than me know a good place for watch discussion/buy/sell?

So in other words, expensive watches are good for picking up chicks

I have some very expensive watches and no chick has ever noticed one. Not even my wife.

Rolex forum is the only correct answer

Schnacks is no longer a Rolex AD.
