Never see many watch threads on here. Finally set up the winder my wife got me for my Christmas.
Current collection:
Speedmaster - gift from my wife for my birthday in 2024
Rolex Datejust with a motif green dial. Bought it for the birth of my first son who was due on St Patty’s Day. He popped out right on time and I had it on. Will give it to him when he turns 18.
Rolex Cellini - picked it up for my 10th wedding anniversary.
Patek Gondolo

Really?
There are watch threads all the time, including a running watch thread.

Is this just a flex? Wouldn’t think someone making a milly would feel the need to actually type that out on a message board.
Nice little collection though. Hopefully Obtuse will share his.

Could have just posted this instead of pretending this was a watch thread. There have been multiple active watch threads in the last few weeks.

I am a vintage hound, and actually have started making fairly decent money flipping them. I call it an "elevated hobby". I had to flip, so I could afford to keep what I want.
current highlights.
50s Zodiac Triple Calendar Moonphase Automatic
1929 Benrus Airman w/original mesh bracelet and box.
1928 Hamilton Piping Rock 14k in immaculate condition
1969 Omega Speedmaster MkII with bracelet and box
1963 Accutron Astronaut GMT
1970 Accutron Spaceview
1965 Accutron Chevron w/14k corners and original bracelet
1920s Elgin Boy Scout
1930s Gruen Curvex Driver Side wrist
1960s Glycine Airman
1951 Gruen Barclay "Spider"
The only untouchables are the Zodiac Moonphase, Benrus Airman, and Gruen Barclay(entirely built in Cincinnati, a town important my family)
Recently had maybe the rarest watch I'll ever own, but I made a huge profit on it, so I sold it. Early 50s Zodiac Ref 691 "Pre-Wolf" in immaculate condition.
I need to setup an album somewhere, so I can share mine. I'll figure that out rq.
edit: thats enough for now. Annoying having to upload each one individually.

Modern batteries burn out the coils over time because theyre a hair too powerful, and there are other finicky issues. But, theres guys who work on them for reasonable prices. Under $400/service. If youre really interested, I can find you a nice clean running Tron for under $300, maybe even under $200. Unless you want a special model like a Spaceview or Astronaut...etc. Those are significantly more expensive. Clean, running Astronauts are going for over $1500 now. It was $800 just 2 years ago.

Out of curiosity, how secure is that winder? I’ve never considered one and typically have my good watches in one of my safes.

Rolex Cellini
This is the watch that got me into watches. I bought my wife a mother of pearl just Datejust for our wedding. It was alot of money for me at the time. The day I went to pick it up, I saw a Cellini in the window of the AD. I fell in love with it immediately, but certainly didn’t have the money to buy two watches. I swore that I would get one when I could afford it.
I like under appreciated watches form top brands. That’s also why I bought the Gondolo. They are both great watches that you can get for a good value and you’ll never see anyone else wearing them.
