So you're what they call a garbage man?

The avg driver probably makes $35k to $50k depending on Frontload, rear load, side load, boom truck, or Roll off.

Nope, but judging by the average person I’ve interacted with them over the years it’s obviously not that difficult.
I’ll bite on this. As a non traditional I’ll agree it’s not that difficult. I’ll also say cheating and technology is certainly more enhanced than what past students had. The best I did as a student is when I actually did everything and really learned it. C’s get degrees though, till grad school.

If a garbage truck driver makes $90k a year, I quit my job right now and go do that.

Go do it. Probably early hours and long routes or short inner city with tons of trash. I think our trash service is based like 2 hours away. There’s another one but they’re not good.

And I can guarantee I make more money than you. It’s not particularly close either. Ask my accountant. He posts here.

Yes, I guess at one time I was a garbage man or partner in a solid waste transportation company.
We started in roll offs and portable toilets. Grew into commercial front load and residential curve side service.
What got us bought out was winning a few county residential contracts.

Somebody lied to me. Since when did garbage men start making 90k.
The guys that ride in the back and dump the cans don’t make that kind of money.
However the guys that drive the front loader trucks and go around and dump commercial dumpsters can make that or more. If they finish their route they can volunteer to go hit extra stops and get paid pretty decent. Know a guy with Republic that averages about $120k a year.

I’d drive a garbage truck for $90K. I’d like to see benefits and leave time first. I imagine it’s less stressful than dealing with coworkers who don’t shut the frick up and rowdy kids in a school.

Is it? Is that why 34.98% of Americans over 25 had a bachelor's degree in 2018? Less than 27% in Louisiana? Giving them out like candy I guess.
What percent of people do you think should have degrees.
If you were to list all the jobs in your city. What percent of them require a degree. I bet it’s no more than 15%. Why would 70% of the people living in your city need degrees. There would not be enough degree required jobs for all of them.
A degree is fine if you want to be in medical field, some sort of engineer, finance, law, or to teach. And I’m glad their are people that do that. But I’m also thankful there are people that want to be plumber, electricians, hvac, mechanics, construction workers. There is nothing wrong with either path.
Where the problem is with people that work retail, fast food, convenience stores thinking they should make $20 hour.

No. But, there's an abundance of highly educated dumbasses out there.
I have a graduate degree, so I do value education.
However, being college EDUCATED does not automatically make you SMART or CAPABLE.

So just hire MBAs, give them nice titles, and tell them to go pick the trash up.

That's because an MBA is useless without another designation of some sort.
Like "CPA."

It’s possibly useless if you do the online program at some random college.
It’s not useless if you go to Harvard Business School.

You have to have a skill behind that MBA that is demanded.
I worked a government job for 20 yrs.
Paid the bills and put food on the table. Got a decent retirement.
It paid for my BA, technical college degree in diesel engine repair, and a MBA.
I was fortunate to work evenings on my side hustle which was garbage and then hardware store with business partners.
I made a good living where I don’t have to work anymore.
I am hanging on doing some diesel tech work training a friends son. Once that is done I will fully retire.
It not just the BA, MBA, or technical degree in diesel engine repair. I chose to stay in engine repair and kept up with industry training.
What you do with it.
Keep relevant in what you choose to do.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone would argue that you can be completely devoid of skill and rely on MBA coursework to fix you.
The biggest thing with a good MBA program is that you have to be pretty highly qualified to even be accepted. The coursework itself is not rocket science.

Not much of a correlation there.

Jim Fish, chief executive of Waste Management, described the situation this way: “We can’t hire a truck driver to drive a trash truck for $90,000 in Houston, Texas, but I can hire an M.B.A. from a small school for $60,000, and I can get them all day long.”
I am sure they'll gladly do their monthly SWOT analysis for that kinda money.

Neither is being over educated.
So congrats you locked yourself away for several years and have zero social life and debt all to make less than a truck driver.
