Closest I've come is hauling hay for .05 cents a bale split two ways.

Great way to stay in shape as a teen though.

Well hell yeah! You're tan, buff and blonde all summer. The girls are like flies to honey by the time fall classes start back.

I threw a few bales of hay on my granddad's ranch in my day.

Credentialism.

My older brother is a CPA, CFO. Has his MBA. Says he didn't really learn much but it made him more comfortable with how others work and approach problems.

I dont think any programs are worthless, but I do think employers use credentialism far too often instead of investing in a person.

Neither is having a degree these days. Honestly one of the least impressive accomplishments in America now.

Depends on the degree.

If he turned of age 40 years ago, he probably did. Few kids graduated from college then.

20 as a baseline wage will put most of them out of work, and make it too expensive for them to afford poor people stuff. "Do gooders" harm more poor people than the rest of us.

No adult is going to be able to afford just the basics in under 15 an hour, more in many locations and there are not enough teens to fill these roles. I’m not being a do gooder, but if this is what’s required to attract workers, that’s what the job is worth.

Which is a fantastic incentive to better your skill set and education.

Drivers? Sure. Fast food workers? Nah.

Someone has to fill the role. Not everyone can be a high paid worker and 15-20 an hour isn’t high pay.

Hate to tell you but 15 an hour is required in much of the country to attract fast food workers. My 16 year old started out at 12 an hour bagging groceries. About to start a job at Panda Express for 16 an hour. They can’t find workers.

True. If they have ambition they'll better themselves and move up.

If they don't, they're not going to make a living flipping burgers so they'll have to sit around and wait for the taxpayer to give them a raise.

Wages are falling again.

You dont get paid on your value, you get paid by how easily it is to replace you.

If you have no skill or education, you really have nothing to sell on the market to an employer.

He can’t hold a steady job for more than a year or two. He’s on his 7th or 8th job since he started posting here.

Probably wouldn’t have as many problems in the workplace if he wasn’t addicted to social media. Tough to be productive when you’re reading and posting on TD for 16 hours a day.

Getting an MBA from a joke university is like getting a law degree from a joke university - completely worthless.

However, if someone gets a STEM Bachelors degree from a good school, works for 3 or 4 years, and then gets a Top 20 MBA, they will be making insane money.

This. That's why I encourage people to get all the skills they can, especially when they are younger. The more you have to offer the harder you are to replace and the more money you can command in the right situation. I like the insurance of having a wide array of skills. Just like when Biden was going to force all healthcare providers to get the COVID vaccine. People that know me knew that I wasn't full of shite when I said I'd quit. I can pay my bills using equipment and skills I've picked up over the years that have zero to do with medicine.

I've already got a pretty good reputation for building ponds and roads. Had someone storm into my house a couple weeks ago in a panic because they were losing their levee. Contractor did a shite job? What do you do? Call the doctor!!! Only in Arkansas.
