Worst idea ever. Clearly voted on by people who never actually use Government St. I haven’t met one person who actually uses the road who thinks this is a good idea.

stop by and introduce yourself to me and you'll meet one. i have lived a block from it since 1980, first in goodwood and now in capital heights since 2001. i drive it multiple times a day. i think the plan is a great idea.

If you think the "road diet" is a good idea, you're wrong and an idiot. Anyone can see it will accomplish nothing except to completely ruin the traffic pattern right in the middle of the city. All because our fool policymakers have a New Orleans envy complex. It's a pathetic joke.

The people who think government is a major east-west route are the ones who don't use it. There are literally 5 other east-west roads you can use to get around mid city, and 9/10 times the fastest route involves these roads instead of dealing with the lights and traffic on government.

Dude, that doesn't happen.
Getting "stuck" behind a bus may add 5 minutes to your trip.
Leave earlier or find another route if you're so concerned about this

Government funnels traffic from Broadmoor/Sherwood Forest, Old Hammond, and Jefferson Highway towards mid city and downtown. It was a designated state highway. It's much more than one of five streets to get around mid city and that's why the traffic count hit around 18,000.
But the debate is over, we are going to find out if it works or not pretty soon.
And if it doesn't and I hear people living on Capital Heights, Claycut, Brousssrd, and others griping, that will be just too bad.
