Imagine being this behind the times. Nurses play candy crush all day and post #nurselife selfies
I'm an RN in the Jefferson/Orleans parish area and you're not far off.
Nurses find plenty of "device" time at work and they don't like it interrupted.
But I'll tell ya though. Here's a concept and basic truth nurses struggle with, especially women in the field. Men are more grounded in the reality of the job.
Nursing, for the most part is nothing more than skilled labor. That's it.
Nursing is an over inflated job skill and trade that requires no where close to a four year college degree.
Women in the profession however need to believe it's more than that. Believe me, it isn't.

Nurses are the single moms of the medical world. For whatever reason we are expected to glorify them and treat them as if they are MD’s.
It's funny you say that.
There's sort of a running joke in the profession that nursing is the preferred job skill for single moms wanting to go back to school. It's a stereotype grounded in reality.
Nurses desperately need to believe their jobs are more important than they actually are.

I know I'm not an MD. But when you have idiots like the ones in here saying that nurses only do what the doctors tell them to...well that proves the point that nurses still aren't getting the basic respect they deserve for what they do contribute.
But doing "what the doctor tells them to do" is the absolute essence and overwhelmingly primary role of being a nurse. The entire profession is absolutely predicated on doing what a doctor tells them to do.
I've been a nurse for over twenty years. The primary function of a nurse is to simply do what he or she is told to do. BY A DOCTOR.
It's not a bad thing but it is the essence and largely sole purpose of the job.

You need to go spend a day in a busy Surgery department.
PACU and same day settings are among the easiest clinical settings to work in a hospital.

Most likely a 2nd or 3rd year resident running as much as he shits about. Has probably been bailed out a few times by a CRNA or Circulator or Scrub Tech. Most shitty residents have blinders on bc they are getting fricked in the arse by upper levels running to death & yelling at them for their inferior decision making skills.
No worries Machine, we laugh and talk shite about your kind more than we play cards.

Hospital employee (non-physician) who is married to a physician

Wait, DeusVultMachina is a non-physician hospital employee talking the shite he/she is spewing. You can’t make that up.
He/she should run for fricking state senator.

Holy shite, an honest nurse. You might want to duck. Your catty RN colleagues will be along any minute now to bitch you out and tell you you have Stockholm Syndrome or something.
