Buy a new one. 20 yrs old??!? You going to take it into Antiques Roadshow or something?

The model number is ZGU385NSM2SS. I assume it's a Whirlpool because everything else in the kitchen is.
Also, I tried to pry the top open but it wouldn't budge after removing all obvious parts on the top. Would you assume top access from under the hood?
If you are ever in Houston, give me a shout, I'll buy you a steak, a beer, whatever...

I just bought a new washer. Do yourself a favor and get a new one.

I had an early 90s Kenmore set that I donated to goodwill because it wouldn't die.
Bought a fancy computer controlled Samsung front loader set including pricey stands which each costed as much as the older sears set.
Nothing but shite. Mildew from the fricking front loader door and a $200 logic board I replaced myself.
I left that shite when I sold the house and bought a 1980s Maytag set for $100 on Craigslist and I haven't been this happy in 15 years.
These things look and run like they're brand new.
The last repair was a $15 heating element on the dryer which took me 15 minutes to put in.

seeing that this is a gas cooktop, my wife could probably do that by herself but thanks...

The part you need is 318 on the diagram.
part number WB13T10076
$113 on Amazon
I don't see any in stock in Houston, some in Dallas at APD for $143. (though I don't have every Houston vendor, just the two that also do business here - APD and 1st Source)
To remove the top you need to remove the burners, those screws marked 122 and 123.
Image sources Sears Parts Direct, which is the best site for getting part numbers from model numbers quickly.

What CAD said.
Furthermore, if one had an older washer that needed to be fixed, you'd probably be renewing a more reliable machine than what you can buy new today. One can make a nice living and not want to waste money at the same time you know...

Yes.
Mainly in laundry, there are some nice features that digital gives you in cooking and refrigeration, if I'm being honest.
Even still a fridge from 1995 running r-12 is probably going to outlast a factory fresh Samsung.
(my recycling company gets so many calls to buy Samsung and LG fridges, I just don't buy used fridges)

Napoleon, you sir are awesome haha
Posted on 12/14/15 at 6:57 pm to Napoleon
Well sir, thank you very much. The offer stands, steak on me even if that doesn't fix the issue. If you won't take me up on the offer, I will do my best to pay it forward. It is very generous of you, Merry Christmas...
Posted on 12/14/15 at 7:04 pm to Canard Noir
With an auto-ignite, and everything working that will be the issue.

Seriously, thank you, you have zero reason to help someone you don't know out but you routinely do from what I've seen. To do this day in and day out only to come here and do it again is especially worthy of mention.

Order a new wobulator. That's all you need.
Or, buy a new SpeedQueen.
