Was there a train station outside of Tiger Stadium back in the 1930s?

In 1960, my freshman year, they ran a train for students from old Alex Box Field to Oxford MS for the Ole Miss game. I believe the price, including game ticket, was about $15.

In the image below you can see train cars on the track behind what became the Old Alex Box Stadium.

There appears to be a small structure at the train tracks and what's now Skip Bertman Drive. You can even see they unhooked the cars to allow cars to cross.

up until the mid 1970's there was a siding by old Alex Box where the trains stopped...

Both of my grandpas are dead now, but they would have been maybe 5-8 years older than this guy. I couldn't imagine them every posting on a site like this

No yard lines drawn on field; sort of a stage and arranged seating in the south end zone area; nice sunny day (not a night game)...

There was also a train depot on campus, located diagonally across the street from the ROTC building. The tracks ran across the old golf course that is now parking for the engineering and business college buildings.

The old train depot building was torn down after Katrina, IIRC, when the school did road work and parking lot changes. Given it was one of the oldest original buildings, some were against it.

People took the train to football games from New Orleans into the early 1960s I believe.
