Link to the Murder of Stringbean
Youtube Documentary about the Investigation
About once a year my grandpaw would bring up how tragic Stringbean's death was. Stringbean's house still remains today.

In North Louisiana it was on every Saturday night at 6pm.
I didn't realize it was in syndication until now. I always thought it was a network show, of course I was super young in those days.
I remember hearing one of Paul Harvey's "Rest of the Story" about Sarah Ophelia Colley being rejected from a classical acting school in London because she had ruined her voice as a high school cheerleader. They told her she would never be able to make it in the business. She graduated from Belmont with a degree in theater and dance and later became known for her famous "Howdy." Of course, we know Sarah as Minnie Pearl. Now you know the rest of the story.

I was a small child in the early 90’s and I remember it coming on TNN on Saturday nights at my grandma and grandpa’s house. Hew Haw, the statler brothers and the grand old opry. But I dork remember the order or lineup

Linda Thompson. She dated Elvis and was married to Caitlyn Jenner back when Caitlyn was Bruce. She’s got two boys with him - Brody and Brody’s brother.
She was Miss Memphis, Miss Memphis State University, and Miss Tennessee USA. She’d get it then. And possibly now.
Bonus points for the fact that her name makes it sound like she should be rolling around in a Monte Carlo, turning down .38 Special, taking a sip of her wine cooler, and stepping out to light a Virginia Slim before walking into some backwater county line watering hole to line dance....

I still remember that song.
Where, where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over,
And thought I found true love.
You met another and
Phht! you were gone.
Where, where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over,
And thought I found true love.
You met another and
Phht! you were gone.

I always liked the skit where Archie Campbell played a barber. He would start telling a story and the haircutee (Roy Clark) would say, "That's good," and Archie would say "No, that's bad" and then keep telling the story. Then his customer would say, "That's bad" and Archie would say "No, that's good". It went back and forth like that for a while.

Don Harron (Charlie Farquharson, KORN radio announcer on the show)wrote most of the material for Hee-Haw. He and wife, Katherine McKinnon, owned a summer home next door to my father's home in Prince Edward Island, Canada at Stanley Bridge for 40+ years before their separation/divorce and his ultimate death about 10 years ago.
Wife Katherine was an actress in her own right, and still owns the cottage - they built a show-barn next door and wrote/performed similar-style plays and musicals up into their 80's.
Interesting and talented couple - would show up at my dad's house occasionally for an impromptu "sing-along" with neighbors and friends that would last for hours and they would make up songs/lyrics as they went on our old piano - crazy times!

It was a TV show.
WLAC AM 1510 from Nashville was also available in parts of Louisiana at night.
It was Top 40 back in the day.

Mutual of Omaha
nightmare fuel
There is no way I would let my grandchildren watch this. I watched this at a young age. Still remember it.
Sixty years later, I ask myself, what was the point of this episode?

This clip is less than 2 minutes and it's pure brilliance. The banjo playing, timing, tone, harmony, etc. Incredible.
Tennessee Ernie Ford, Grandpa Jones, Stringbean and Roy Clark. I'll Fly Away on Hee Haw, 1973
Also, the Youtube Channel "When the Cowboys Sing" is a great follow.
