It is a myth that there was less crime back then. Throughout the 1970', 1980's, and 1990's the violent crime rate was much higher than it is today.

Hee Haw still comes on weekly on the RFD cable network. Reruns, but it still is on.

I hated watching the last minutes of shitty old Lawrence Welk while waiting on Hee Haw to start.

As a kid, I could not imagine who in hell would watch Lawrence Welk. Still not sure.

I found a 2" reel of quad video tape of heehaw from 1974 one time in the bottom of a closet in KNOE TV 8.

Wish I'd played it (if it even would) and made a VHS copy.

My folks watched it every weekend.

It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized how much of a badass Roy Clark was.

But I still don’t understand why they let Buck Owens on the show.

I play that Don Williams song pretty often when I'm drunk.

Not long before his death, Don Herron (Charlie Farquehson of KORN Radio) told the media that he's not worried about dying from his prostate cancer. He said "I was born in bed at my own home with a naked woman, and I hope to go out that way".

My Dad was from that generation, and we watched it sometimes on Sunday nights. I wasn't a fan. I also remember he had his radio tuned to a station that only played big band stuff. I thought most of it was so lame. I often think to myself now my kids feel the same way about the classic rock station I listen to when I have it on.
