Yes they are, and it's not a reflection on your parenting. Kids are kids and are going to do dumb, irresponsible, and disrespectful things. Maybe they won't ever take the entire bowl of candy on Halloween, but at some point in their childhood they're going to do something that will embarrass you as a parent. My parents were strict as hell and had no patience for disrespect, but I can rattle off probably a dozen things I did as a kid that were either illegal and/or disrespectful. Sometimes they found out and I was punished, many other times they didn't.

To take a singular action and project that out to that kid's entire life and claim they're going to be hardened criminals their entire adult life is ridiculous.

as i first read this, i thought it was a pretty generic rant. then I got to this:

quote:

it’s a culture thing… Same culture that lands their 8x10 picture on front of Auntie’s airbrushed t-shirt while Auntie falls all over herself at the funeral claiming what a perfect person they were their entire life.

and it turned to gold

I think we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can laugh at what he said, believe he should have the right to say it, lament our PC culture for enforcing double-standards on whom people can criticize and who can do the critizing, and also laugh at the poster for being stupid enough to make that rant in public where it’s captured forever. You can hate the rule and also criticize a moron for breaking it.

And the giant elephant being in the room (which is the real issue) is completely ignored, while we bitch back and forth about how we describe the giant elephant.

Dude we get it you don't like black people. Your in the majority on this board. What have you got to be mad about? blacks in Louisiana are not a threat to you, they have Liberal democratic leaders that pass policies that promotion the exact behavior that results in the "culture".

Claiming these black kids culture as being the reason they took more candy than they were asked to is in fact racist. I wonder if these kids were white would he have written the same things and blamed the white kids culture for their doings and how doing this was a gateway to committing crimes and getting shot in their future.

ETA: we all did this shite as a kid. No matter what background we had or skin color.

You're either dumb, racist or a combination of both.

Ole Brandon put some candy on his plantation porch. He got upset when some kids of African descent took a lot of the candy. He decided to "get back" at them by posting the video and assuming a lot about their culture. He then jumped to the rational conclusion that they would end up on their auntie's t-shirt at their funerals.

Yep. We all did dumb shite as kids.

And IF adults are involved in situations like this candy grabbing, its more indicative of trashy culture and not race.

Everything he said was the truth. But hell, I did the same thing when I was a kid. You leave an un supervised bucket of candy out and ask nicely to take only 1 piece, I'm not taking one piece. Nice guys finish last.

These threads always go the same way:
Liberal - "Whiteys are racist racist - look what he did"
Non-liberal - "Please show me how it's racist"
Liberal - "uh,uh, whitey bad!"

Exactly. I cannot imagine a neighborhood with trick-or-treaters where the bowl wouldn’t meet the same fate. Children have poor impulse control. In other news: the sky is blue and may be giving you cancer. Find out how at 11

You got him good!!!!

Except when you thought he said "uh,uh, whitey bad!", he actually said "Ole Brandon put some candy on his plantation porch. He got upset when some kids of African descent took a lot of the candy. He decided to "get back" at them by posting the video and assuming a lot about their culture. But I can see why you would be confused.

Look, I appreciate your response and if I get honest with myself, same here.

But I'm talking about kids being little rude shits IN FRONT OF THE PARENTS who do not say anything to them.

I'm not gonna say my kids are perfect and will be perfect. But they know better than to be that way when I'm with them. However, what I experienced first hand on Thursday night as I was handing out candy was mostly done in front of their parents.

"Trick or Treat", "Thank You". Period. Not standing there not saying anything, holding the bag open and keeping it there after I've already established that one handful of candy was what I was giving them. That was another one that I saw quite a few times. IN FRONT OF THE PARENTS WHO DIDN'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH THAT. Looking at me as though "you can't be serious, that's all you're gonna give me?"

I walked up a few times on kids trying to empty the bowl out in their bag when I went to get some more candy or take a leak. I also walked up on a mom instructing her group to only take a few pieces each (which made up for the other groups that I walked up on). That's the difference. It's the shitty parents. And the kids who are by themselves where one or more of them have good parents, will usually be the leader(s) of the group they're in telling the other kids to not be little shits. That is, if one kid in the group has good parents.

My main gripe has always been, is, and will always be the parents. Not the kids. Kids are going to be kids. It's who is raising them that's the problem.
