Why not? He can keep his contributions over the years. But why should taxpayers still pay for this guy the rest of his life?

He’s had an entire career in the school system. As of now, I don’t see where his mistake should warrant erasing his retirement benefits that he’s earned.

Resignation and no further role in the school system, in any shape or form, is enough in my opinion.

I'd be surprised to see this fall under that. Could it happen, possible. But I'd be surprised.

How would it not? You think the ethics board isn't aware of this situation?

han drag it out. But going for the guy's pension, would be overkill.

Agreed but didn’t he go full overkill in his decisions, he potentially cost this young lady money. If they would’ve just accepted it, he would continue going over the top potentially costing others serious money

I've ready 4-5 articles online about it. The only thing I didn't read was every post of this thread. So I'm not coming from any position of ignorance. If there is something you want me to read, go find it, post it and I will read it. Until then....

A government employee unnecessarily opening the gov. To a lawsuit which the taxpayers will be liable for is absolutely a fireable offense which would cost him his pension. He is a huge liability to the tax payers if you allow him to act this way.

i would step away from defending that guy. he had a power trip that got exposed. the problem with many people in positions of authority; they shouldn't use it to bully, they should use it to teach and advise, not control.

he deserves no less than the reaction he has gotten.

So since they bullied kids and you hate them, others should be free to bully kids also?

I said I hate my uncle. Other people hated/hated my dad. People in positions of power bully people all the time. It's human nature. Doesn't mean it has to ruin your life. Especially when you are 17. This shite is a drop in bucket. She will not experience 1 setback in life because of this. And if she does, she's weak as frick. People are going to bend over backwards to get her a free ride to college. College admission boards are going to bend over backwards to admit her to their college. This will not even be a thought after a few weeks/months.

I don’t think anyone says her life is ruined and can never recover.

oh sure there is. If they aren't saying it, they are sure insinuating it.

I'm in the middle. I get why the mom and daughter are mad. I thought the principal made a stupid decision, and especially since he pulled the religious moral card on her. But the shite is resolved. He isn't the principal there anymore. She has gotten, and will get the rest of her shite back. Her mom will likely sue for emotional distress. What more needs to happen?

You are comparing you dealing with your a-hole relatives to some rando person bullying a kid. Just walk away from the thread. You've lost the plot.

What is the bottom line truth right now?

Did he really resign or is this a leave of absence?

If a leave of absence it’s cry havoc and release the dogs of war…go scorched earth

I have a VERY low opinion of people who frick over those under them for bullshite reasons, especially in ways that can theoretically alter their life trajectory.

I do too. It's fricked up. But you know as well as I do, that this isn't going to affect her trajectory in a negative way at all. I'd actually argue that it will improve her trajectory.

Costing her a major scholarship over personal beliefs makes me see red because her accomplishments are completely separate from the reasoning for what he did.

Yes I agree, only thing I disagree with, is as I stated above, it won't cost her a single thing except her temporary/current reputation. Which I'd argue that hasn't really been hit. Because everyone is on her side and won't look at her any different.

He has a time machine to go back and submit everything for a scholarship which has already passed the deadline?

If he's allowed the leave of absence, he just burning off the leave he can't get paid for when he retires. It would essentially allow him to have no negative impact on his finances for the year. I'd imagine he has a pretty fat stack of leave to burn before formally exiting.

I think immediate resignation with no ability to cash in on unpayable leave is appropriate for this scenario.
