This was totally an isolated incident and certainly not just the first time he was caught abusing his power. wink

That’s the key part here. Until the LPSB makes it clear that he will not be hired back in any capacity, at any level, the full force of the lawsuit should move forward.
I do not agree with going back and taking his pension though. He’ll be told to resign or he will be terminated. That and not hiring him again should be enough. As long as the student is made whole.

We all make stupid decisions correct, but that is forgivable if it is a spur of the moment decision. Principal had plenty of time to think about his course of action and then do it. It’s not a stupid decision at that point, but a stupid person.
Only “high and mighty” person is the principal who thought his morals should override the families outside of school. If the school doesn’t fire him, they absolutely should be held responsible.
I completely agree. Still a stupid decision. Him going all moral high ground and appearing to stand by the decision until it completely blew up is what we have all come to expect with people in these situations. Again, the guy lost his job. What more do people want to do to him. The district is likely going to pay. The girl is going to be fine.

Why not? He can keep his contributions over the years. But why should taxpayers still pay for this guy the rest of his life?

LPSS is corrupt and have ignored his behavior and that of other principals for decades. They deserve everything coming their way.

Pure speculation of course, but I almost wonder if there's more to this story... specifically between St. Pierre and Becnel if the intent was to give his endorsement to Becnel's daughter. For him to display such terrible judgement after years on the job is a bit baffling. Almost screams of the whole "pussy is undefeated" OT meme.

He did. I agree. Seemed like more of using his false sense of authority of morality. And used his position as pulpit. I agree, a dick, authoritarian move.

Except it wasn't a crime. Just a dick, elitist move.

Did he lose his job? Sounds like he requested to take leave for the rest of the year.
Pretty sure if you get fired you lose your pension. He should be faced with a resign or get fired option. Happens often In government work.

Tactically, I’d go after the pension … just another piece to be negotiated. The pressure needs to be real to keep LPPS from playing LPPS games…
Leave of absence is BS, he needs to go and take Becnel with him

Dude, my dad was a principal for 15 years at my HS. He and my uncle bullied kids for that long. I hate my fricking uncle for that, but it didn't ruin me as an adult.

I am just curious if you believe what happened was so egregious that it warrants him losing his retirement over. Or is it just that it's new and fresh and everyone's in an uproar in the moment. Also, as many have mentioned, He has used his position in the past to project his morality on other students? Why hasn't any dear facebook posts been made about it, if it was a pattern and so bad?

I wonder if it had to do with business interest at the school or his efforts to become principal of the year.

This is pretty fricking bad. Just because your dad and uncle were shitheads doesn't make this ok. Explains your takes in this thread though.

So since they bullied kids and you hate them, others should be free to bully kids also?
I don’t think anyone says her life is ruined and can never recover.
I’m having a really hard time understanding your point of view on this.

I’m going hard at him because he demonstrably lied in at least part of his statement (talking with victim and mother) and is trying to wait this out by taking leave for the year rather than continue his job or resign.
Do they have to get his pension? No. But it is something to aim for if this goes to court and it is a point to negotiate on if they need to settle.
I have a VERY low opinion of people who frick over those under them for bullshite reasons, especially in ways that can theoretically alter their life trajectory.
Costing her a major scholarship over personal beliefs makes me see red because her accomplishments are completely separate from the reasoning for what he did.

I'd be surprised to see this fall under that. Could it happen, possible. But I'd be surprised.
