It seems like she may have been making a legal and reasonable right on red given the distance she saw the approaching car from. She probably had no idea he a was traveling at nearly double the speed limit.

Both parties at fault.

This is going to be interesting to watch. No doubt he should serve time but, if she ran a light I am confused as to how LE is trying to lay everything on the perp.

Both had a part to play here regardless of the alcohol.

Hogwash.
102 feet per second traveled going 70 mph. She probably looked up and just didn’t acknowledge the high speed. Only saw the lights. If he’s just going a moderate speed it’s just a fender bender

The wbrz article says quote:Further investigation details released Wednesday said Weems was attempting to make a right turn onto South Range when Shawn Robertson of Baton Rouge struck her vehicle.

Thanks. I thought she was turning left.

Weems’ blood alcohol concentration that night was 0.0, according to her parents, who received their information from DSPD. Her parents, Nelson Weems and Chasity Johnstone, say that Denham Springs police told them that Shawn Robertson’s B.A.C. was .09 when tested nearly three hours after the crash. They also say that police told them that Robertson had THC in his system.

Did they clarify if there was or was not THC in weems system?... a lot of rumors going around initially suggesting she was high, would be nice to put them to rest with a conclusive statement from officials

On Wednesday morning, March 6, 2024, Shawn Robertson, 31, of Baton Rouge, was arrested at a home in Baton Rouge, sources tell UWK. He is facing charges of negligent homicide, reckless operation, second offense DWI, operating a vehicle while under suspension for certain prior offenses, and not wearing a seat belt.

Toss that piece of shite under the jail.. 2nd offense and a suspended license..

Per WBRZ

quote:

Robertson was found to have a BAC of .09%, .01% over the legal limit. He was also found to have a concentration of marijuana in his blood. A toxicology report of Weems' blood found no presence of alcohol or drugs.

I saw second time drunk driving and killed someone.... dude needs to serve time and get his license revoked. Sometimes I wish we were as harsh as other countries are on drunk driving. Especially now with cell phones and possibly Uber.

As a state, it is embarrassing how lax our impaired driving laws are. A young life was loss because someone was a piece of shite.

I’m sure ole boy sweated all this time. He’ll get what he deserves. I’m glad the official record was cleared for the victim. Everyone who mattered to her will hear about it. Rest in peace.

This seems like grasping at straws. Do you know the alleged criminal by chance?

Blame the MFers who didn't give the public any information

No Mikey. This is a lesson that people on the internet need to be patient and wait for ALL pertinent facts and info to come out before rushing to a side to play defense and/or point fingers

This happens every single time, for every single controversial incident that happens on TD

There are a few very good reasons that most info about situations like this are held back from the general public before shite goes to trial. You’re too smart to NOT know this

Robertson also suffered minor injuries but declined transport to a hospital. His mother arrived at the scene to take him home.

Letting this happen is ridiculous especially when you have a death, previous DWI, a suspended license, and it was New Year’s.

I am sure he is going to say he drank some leftover champagne or whatever to calm nerves after accident and before his blood drawn.

With reconstruction they have other evidence, but he should have been arrested that early morning.
