I worked at a restaurant while in college where the bartender usually took the to go orders, but that person only made around $3 dollars an hour. I remember them getting upset on a stiff if the order was big. Of course we didn't have to broadcast everything then.

even for an order that big, you are looking at maybe an hour? Ok. There's your $15

Maybe so, yeah two probably is pushing it. Depends alot on how picky and modified they make it and if everyone is paid seperate and it's all in cash. $15 would be a fine tip. $0 wouldn't be.

I never made under minimum behind bar. Didn't even know restaurants did that. Behind bar is/was where the bank is/was.

They want 20% to operate a cash register and hand over food?

We are still talking take out right?

Meh I tip $2-3 on a takeout order. Flat rate. I figure if everyone does that the person working takeout will do OK, but there's no way in hell I'm tipping full 15-20% for what amounts to 5 minutes of "work". A server can make or break your entire dining experience. The schmuck working the phone and handing me my food is simply there in lieu of automation. They're lucky to get the $2-3 I give, and if my wife pays, ZERO

No one expects 15-20%. But on large orders they certainly expect more than 0%.

The church ended up giving her more than 25%, but she's still out of a job, which is her fault anyway.

She was a wonderful driver.

Last week, Yoder spent most of her shift at a Naples Outback readying a take-out order for 25 church members. The 75-item order — placed by Christ Fellowship on Wednesday — included 25 steaks, 25 chicken dinners and 25 sides of potatoes.

If the order is ready and correct I’ll give them a few bucks.

I agree but the thread is about the Church of Slothburger stiffing a girl who went to considerable effort to make their dining experience wonderful.

They did throw together a couple of bucks for her after they got bad press, and cost her the ability to feed herself and child. Yay them.

Her decision making cost her the job.

I've never tipped for drive up or pickup service.

Maybe give the girl at Sonic a dollar here and there

This

I get the frustration but you can't sound off on social media like that. Particularly when your company specifically tells you it's not kosher.
