WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. A hungry, slightly inebriated man knew just what to do when he stopped by a South Carolina Waffle House early Thursday only to find the restaurant’s staff snoozing: He cooked up his own meal, snapping selfies along the way.

]

quote:

He told WIS that he wouldn’t normally have gotten behind the grill. "I give all the credit to my old friend vodka," Bowen said.

He said he returned later to pay for the sandwich. As proof, he posted a photo on Facebook of himself smiling with a Waffle House employee.

Executives from Waffle House called to apologize to him and suspended the sleeping employees for a week.

Not all drunken stories are epic. This one is.

You have to be sleeping pretty hard to not hear a drunk guy walk in, go behind the counter, cook up bacon & eggs, etc., eat it all and walk out without ever waking up.

I’d love to make a drunken meal at Waffle House. I’d make some insanely good hashbrowns

I wonder what would've happened if another customer came in?

Do they typically only staff Waffle House with one employee, even that late at night?

I thought there was a cook and a waiter, at least.
