That's the way it was before F'king Alexander. You had a system president and a campus chancellor. Martin Woodin was the president of the LSU System when I was in school while James Wharton was the chancellor of the BR campus.

LSU back to merit based

System takes needs based kids and they can waste their grant money in Alec for a year and not drag LSU down. Get some control under the guise of different missions / standards.

Gotta change approach top down and this provides additional cover to LSU.

I believe they paid for a consultant to study this when they did combine them several years back. I guess they will do the same before splitting them then work to combine them again for the next guy.

Half of those kids won't be at LSU in a year.

There was a reason they were combined.

Maybe it’s time to split up again, but having them combined has nothing to do with DEI or wokeness

He never adjusted holistic admissions aka DEI. I liked some things Tate did but one of his biggest agendas was simply boosting selective minorities….never correcting F King keeps the ship sinking.

One thing that Tate did very well with is focusing on LSU's strengths through the Scholarship First Agenda.

We have the people and expertise to solve problems related to food and fiber production, health, our coast, defense, and energy
Basically focusing LSU's academic priorities to Ag, Biomedical, Coastal Studies, Defense (Cyber security and ROTC), and Energy.

I think it best to have a Chancellor for the Baton Rouge Campus. Someone that has the sole responsibility to improve/manage the main campus. Unfortunately what is best for the LSU system doesn’t always jive with what’s best for Baton Rouge campus. Let a Chancellor fight for the Baton Rouge campus interest.

And, then we will see the same Freshman Class next year unless the new President changes Admission procedures/plans.

Even though I don't really care for Landry, it is important that we have a Republican Governor during this time.

Rousse will be really good for LSU. He has a large mountain to climb though after a series of terrible people destroying higher ed in Louisiana

When only 47% of 2024 Freshman class submits ACT/SAT scores even though testing is mandatory for in state students to receive TOPs you might just be full of shite (LSU still allows for those submitting scores for TOPs to withhold those scores for admissions and scholarships controlled by the school).

I still can't believe this was allowed to happen.

As an alum, I am making sure both my kids (30+ ACT Scores, BTW) will NOT go to LSU.

No, the worst one was in the actual welcoming event inside the PMAC the next day where a group of idiots started twerking on or near the stage where the podium was set up for speakers with the official LSU crest, etc.

Just a full on fricking disgrace with parents and students looking at each other in the stands like "WTF is happening".

One the biggest issues with LSU (and it’s not just LSU - a lot of flagships have moved to this) is that they prioritize top out-of-state students over the top in-state students. There is a brain drain going on right now. The best Louisiana high school grads are getting more money to go to Arkansas, Texas A&M, Alabama, etc. than what is offered by LSU.
The problem is that the out-of-state students graduate from LSU and leave and the in-state kids that go elsewhere aren’t coming back.

Yea, this is how they do it in Texas. You can go to UT-Tyler or some other branch for a year or two and then if you do well, you can transfer.

This would prop up those schools, as well as screen the marginal students out before they get to BR.
