Currently looking at a 2017 certified used Jetta and a 2015 certified Passat. Both have what I'm looking for: satellite radio; good gas mileage; a spacious trunk; and a smooth ride.

Where did they rank on the reliability ranking I saw posted here a few months ago?

How do VWs compare to Hyundais and Hondas?

TIA

Hitler pushed the advancement of the Beetle so that everyone could afford to have a car.

Humanitarian and whatnot.

This I know. You will meet a lot of people in the dealer's customer lounge who are not in a good mood.

Spacious trunk huh? What are you planning? You need some lawn darts, a tarp, and a bag of lime too?

I also like how quiet they were on the interstate.

Anyone know anything about Volkswagen vehicles?

Only liberals drive the Beetles.
Only poor ex-patriot Europeans get their SUVs while in America.
Only weird guys get their sedans like the Jetta.

We have a tdi Passat and love it. Luckily the two problems we had with it were covered under an extended warranty by Volkswagen

FWIW, a mechanic friend of mine told me Jetta alternators are a bitch to replace, he even overcharges customers for it and tells them why up front.

I'm driving a Passat as a rental right now. I dislike the car a lot from the stupid switchblade key and these damn brakes that I keep giving myself whiplash with.

The brakes were tight on the test drive. I guess you'd get used to them though.

Anyone have any information on warranty comparisons?

Hyundai's is absurd, but then you'd have to drive a Hyundai. There are some nice Hyundais out there, with leather and SiriusXM, which is my only requirement.

The brakes take some getting used to. Once you are used to them it's fine. But we parked our TDI for about a month while waiting to turn it in and when I drove it to the dealership it was like learning all over again.

Honestly, I feel like VW gives you a lot of bang for your buck. It's not overly flashy, but they are solid cars with good features. I personally didn't have any reliability issues. I will say that everything on them us a pain to change. Changing headlights requires the slender arms of a 2 year old with a few extra sets of elbows. Little things like that make bringing it in to the shop more expensive. Bet hell, I had to do nearly the same thing on our Tahoe (was actally worse)
