Have a 19 Atlas.. the biggest problems with it are ticky-tack shite that you would expect to break on a brand new model being built in a brand new facility. (trim, plastic features, etc.)

No major issues and I'm confident that this tank would hold up well if some drunk a-hole takes it on 1v1

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a shite ton of cargo space and a third row that an adult male can easily sit in, then the Atlas may be for you. Most third rows are pretty much only for little kids. The interior space is massive compared to others in its class. They also just have that more streamlined German design inside and out that a lot of people prefer. Very clean.

VW has gotten better with reliability but still not as consistent as Toyota and some others in the class.

Volkswagens consistently rank low in reliability. I would not own one personally. So I have no real experience with them.

Depending on the year, both the CX-9 and the Palisade have good reliability ratings on CR. Reliability for 2021 & 2022 are slightly better for the CX-9 (2 5s vs 5 & 4 out of 5) but owner satisfaction favors the Palisade (2 3s vs 4 & 5).

Had it for 2 years. Love it. Use it as the main family car spacious and has been reliable so far. Been on a few trips to NC, Atlanta, the Keys, back and forth to Louisiana, Etc. Easily fits 2 adults, 2 kids, and the dog and all our stuff. I’ll probably just get a new one next year assuming the market shakes out.

Make sure you get the 60k mile warranty to cover all your oil changes and whatever else may pop up.

My wife has one with over 100K miles. We had no problems so far other than crappy gas mileage.

Wife decided she wanted and atlas and bought a 2020. R line brand new. With less than 500 miles on the showroom car it suddenly went into limp mode and had to be towed to the dealership. Damn fuel injector went out. Just brought it to the dealer for it’s one year oil change and some warranty work. Accent lights and puddle lights were staying on from time to time without going off. Starting the car and shutting off would usually work. Needs some wire harness to fix issue and that’s on back order. A/C control button to increase the air flow was getting stuck on high and had to be fixed. It does have 21” rims and the ride is rough. The cheaper mode has smaller rims and more rubber which makes the ride better

We had one. Got rid of it. It wasn’t bad but the long term reliability didn’t make me feel good.
