How long does it take to cross this bridge? Don’t go that way often. I’d guess 20 mins or so. Are you low enough where you can see anything? I’d guess 4 or 5 stories high.

I moved to Broussard the summer of 2014. Construction was just beginning on the overpass at highway 90 at Albertsons Parkway. The 2 overpasses there are just nearing completion now. Almost 5 years for a couple of overpasses. Texas (Houston, DFW, Austin) would have this done in 6 weeks.

That’s like a 20yd dragline bucket. That’s massive compared to what you see today

My oldest brother worked on the survey crew for the right of way in the late 60s in the summers between college. He used to come home muddy and wet, but he always had a big arse turtle or a small gator or a big catfish they had caught. He loved that job and we ate well!

Pretty sure that's the same soundtrack as Rudolph.

Who is living in Bali because of the contracts for this work?

Also impressive is it was not only 2 years to build, but included in that time was clearing all the trees and dredging the sand to make it level for construction.

A new bridge would take 10 years of environmental impact studies.
But what about the initial 5-year study to study the efficacy of said study?

It was impressive and I assume the construction of the causeway and the swamp expressway were the pinnacle of road building in La. It begs the question what the hell happened since. They were at the pinnacle of engineering and now they can barely keep the roads functional.

Thanks for finding and posting that. Engineer friends are getting links as I type this.
Where were the concrete fabrications done? And any idea where the concrete was sourced? (Sadly remembering that twenty years ago, huge amounts of raw materials for concrete were coming into the Port of New Orleans from Spain.)

Damn this link is getting shared. Was uploaded about 1.5 years ago and had ~1,600 views when I first linked, now it's over 2,200.
