Also, restaurant servers make full minimum wage plus tips. Some of them are averaging $40+ an hour. It's insane.

And we still have the shittiest servers in the country.

Best situation for a server.

They don't have to hustle like servers in other states.

I tip accordingly.

Asking for myself

Hold up.

There were actual people that did police officer work for $11.63/hour?

No BS, like for real?

If I was getting paid 15 an hour to be a cop, I'd shoot every Democrat in the knee caps immediately after giving me crap about something I pulled them over for. That's just not worth the headache of being in law enforcement these days.

Pretty much everybody I've ever met from Flat Village has been named Vidrine or Manuel.

I don't think it is much higher in Baton Rouge.

there are other ways. Reducing waste, energy efficiency, automation. Just because one cost goes up doesn’t mean you have to lose margin, it just means you need to be more efficient in other areas

Not every business application has all those options. I can tell you from experience that many businesses are getting to the last options on cutting in other areas. At some point, if the consumer wants to give your employees a raise, the consumer needs to pay for that raise. It's simple.

they get tons of gov't assistance. I saw a comparison once of someone making 28k compared to someone making 50k and the guy making 28k actually came out ahead. Not sure what the exact numbers were in the comparison.

I agree. But my 17 year old high school daughter making $400 a week part time at a library loves it.

Someone is lying to you. A 40hr work week at $13.50/hr is about $445 after federal withholdings

Weird flex but ok. She works 30 hours a week @ $13.50 hourly. That's $405 a week.

I was referring to the McDonald's situation, but I assure you that nearly every business can be run more efficiently then they currently are

Probably not. I don't think servers do anything here they don't do elsewhere for far less money.

Arkansas state minimum wage raised $.50 to $10/hr and has a lower unemployment rate than LA. The businesses will be out of business argument is BS.

I do think that rules should be different for tipped employees though.

And how many have lost benefits and have had hours cut to compensate? How many small businesses have closed.
Get back to us on that...or not.

Typical uninformed mindset.
That's insane. But enjoy the delusion while it lasts.
Why not make minimum $100/hour? After all people need a "living wage".
When your daughter finally enters the real world, reality bites.
