This new Generation (and some old) like to sh!t on true manual cars for these new automatics but glad some manufactures are still making them.

An amazing feat, but give me a slower air cooled non-stability controlled 911.

I'm not knocking the Porsche as I'd take it over the Z06 if both options were available to me, but one of those costs twice as much as the other.

Z06 is trailer park trash

Possibly, but that doesn't mean it's not fun to take around a track. I've only ever tracked a base C8, but it was still crazy fun.

Obtuse, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't I see that the current Cayman GT4 RS did the lap in 6:57 and change for substantially less.

*edit* I see now that it was a massaged GT4RS (Manthey kit) and not showroom floor.

Side topic, I've been watching videos on the 718 Spyder RS lately and have so much desire for that car. The odd guy in the street would look at it as "just another Boxster" and never know the monster that it really is.

It was used as a reference most would be familiar with. While it is indeed twice as expensive (probably more if the average configured price is used) 14 seconds is a world of difference even on the long lap at the 'Ring. They are not even in the same league performance-wise wise especially when you consider the P-car with a PDK is even faster (6:45) , the 'Ring is a power track, and the Z06 has ~150 more HP. The Z06 is heavier but still has a better power-to-weight ratio.

The real question is what will the ZR1 do. They have run the VIR Grand Course (Same as the Car & Driver Lightning Lap) in 2:32.3 which is 5 seconds faster than the 992.1 GT3 RS. Especially given the HP advantage it will beat the 992.2 3RS by a healthy amount at the 'Ring but then the 2RS will get to have its day of truth. I predict the 992 2RS when it is out will be in the low 6:30s and likely second only to the AMG One for production car lap times but the AMG One is barely streetable.

this will be 99% of people outside of Porschephiles.

To each their own, but it's 911 only for me.

Learned the other day there are $50K Performance option Toyota Corollas.

THAT was fun to watch. I don't care how fast the new tech is, a real drivers car like this is so much more fun to watch / listen to.

Agree completely. That was a thing of beauty.

I know a few people with them. They are a cool car for sure but I have seen the top go up and down in person and its pretty ridiculous. I get why it's like that though. Everyone i know that has one lives in ATL or north or Florida and most own another porsche GT product of some sort. We just don't get enough convertible weather down here to make it worth it IMO.

Better have cat like reflexes and incredible processing skills driving at those speeds, hit 292 mph at the end of the long straight away.

I still have cat-like reflexes and hyper awareness but my poor vision has always precluded me from going outside a certain envelope. My MINI JCW is enough; next year I'll prolly take her out to the Dragon. Nürburgring Porsche-ing is strictly a PS5 Gran Turismo thing.

It is a real shame we didn't get a foot box view. It might have become a classic like the Senna/NSX video.

I should point out Senna's footwork should NOT be imitated. He may be the only person in the history of auto racing to make full corner stabby throttle inputs work. He attacked the throttle like a methed up lifer shanking a guard with a 1" shiv.

Yeah, they're pretty entertaining to run around in, whether that's grabbing groceries or zipping down the Blue Ridge Parkway. I started with a used 2007 S. Traded that in at the Lamborghini dealership for a used 2011 JCW. Both of those were British Racing Green. Sold the 2011 to Carmax last year after many, many country miles. I have a 2024 JCW 1 To 6 now; the last of the six speed MINIs.

My current weekend car is a 2024 GTS 4.0. Super fun car to drive!!! I'm far from a professional driver, but would love to see what it could do on that track.

CSB time...

When I was stationed in Germany 15 years ago, a soldier buddy of mine took me for a ride in his Mazda speed 3 that he put a bunch of money into for performance and we went on the nurburgring. It was crazy scary and awesome at the same time. Saw some awesome cars and a couple cars spun out. Also went to rock am ring at the some place.

I once got into a fight with a Brazilian at the USGP when I shot off with my oft-used phrase "it isn't my fault Aryton forgot to turn left at Tamborello". The fight ended up in the hotel pool. We have been great friends since then and my wife and I have stayed at his home in São Paulo twice for the GP: Schumacher's last race in a red car and when Massa was WDC for 39 seconds. Damn you Timo Glock!

Senna was the best Saturday driver ever to line up on an F1 grid but come Sunday I would rather have Prost or Schumacher in the car.

What is awesome is Senna just walks up in regular cloths and shoes and drives the hell out of that car. No helmet or harness. Lol.
