Why is this a Black issue? A cop shot a man and may be wrong for doing so. Adding the "black" factor makes it sound like that is why the cop shot him.

So apparently he was shot two hundred fifty yards away from where the traffic stop happen. Interesting.

How did they get that far away in the first place?

He was running away, as in no threat, Christ I don't have a problem with black folks being irate. I can't stand in front of em and feel race didn't play some even small factor. Maybe it did, maybe it didnt, but everyone should be a little uncomfortable

No clue. CNN reported this information.

Apparently the dashboard cam will be released soon.

I don't know how but it sort of explains the dynamic here.

I think the cop was frustrated. But, frustration =/= excuse for murder and what the cop did here is straight up murder.

Sure, the guy running absolutely was stupid and he'd be alive today if he wasn't a fricking moron.

But, the cop is supposed to be the level head in the situation

Agreed, but they obviously must've fought first?

I'm guessing so. That even appeared to be the case in the video we've seen.

And, I wouldn't even necessarily have an issue with the shoot if, for example, the cop knew the runner to be a wanted murderer or, perhaps if the runner had just committed murder.

But damn. He shot a guy that he had nothing on other than a busted tail light? .

What a dumb frick.

All police on duty should be required to wear body cams. Period. Protects both sides and is worth it financially as well. Numerous communities that have implemented this system have cut their complaints against down tremendously. It's a time where technically is so advanced and affordable.. Let's hold these people who can take life's away on their own discretion accountable. There must be accountability. I've been arrested once my whole life as a teen for simply calling an officer an arse under my breath because he was harassing me. Brought me in they did a quick gathering of my possessions, my wallet and phone then brought me into another room where they did a more thorough search and pulled out two twenty dollar bills I had in my jeans pocket and the officer said thanks and kept it. I was only 17 and extremely anxious under the circumstances. When my parents picked up they gave me my belongings but not my 40$ and said they didn't know anything of it.

I have nothing against cops at all. I appreciate them for what they do.. But wjth such authority and power needs to come more accountability. Some of these cops are simply so lazy in their decision making they rather just shoot and take a precious life than do actual case by case accessing of situations. Not any one situation is the same.

The guy did have a warrant for his arrest?

A question I'm having trouble finding through google;

Do Cops know specifically why an arrest warrant is issued for a suspect?

Does he know whether its 'child support' (non violent misdemeanor) or a triple homicide that the suspect is wanted for?

Agreed.

I mean the guy is running away, but really, where's he gonna go? He ain't really running all that fast, even.

Call for backup and cuff him when runs out breath.

Is the black cop the most hated black man in America now? He might have topped Clarence Thomas

He could have been running for great reason.. Clearly we see he may have even been justified so.. It's ridiculous the cop says he was in fear when he's mowing the guy down with 8 shots. 8 shots.. It's one guy running away from you.. Not even at him.. I mean reeally a couple of shots is not enough ? Why not wound him ? It's just so lazy to me and again I recognize not every situation is the same.. This was ridiculous.

When I had my one and only arrest I called a cop an arse under my breath. Not even an a-hole.. And he turned around and said you're coming with me.. I freaked out and ran because I have horrific anxiety.. Especially of being locked up.. So I fled initially, not because I was doing anything illegal whatsoever.. Just out of fear but I later gave up my fleeding when an undercover officer down the road talked me into calming down and he arrested me the moment he gained my trust.. I didn't even know he was a cop.. But I'm so thankful to this day they didn't just start shooting me because I freaked out. I'm no criminal or law breaker.. Never done any drugs or even drank.. I was simply young and offended at the time but certainly wouldn't deserve losing my life.

that's the other thing.

For frick's sake, at first, when I saw the video and he was running, I almost thought he was joking. I mean, good God, he had ZERO chance of getting away.

given that a warrant COULD be for non payment of traffic fines, and cops know that, then if ALL the cop knows is there is a warrant, there better not be any f'n shooting going on!!!

Clarence Thomas

Clarence Thomas is a NASCAR fanatic and enjoys watching basketball and football (he's a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan), driving his black Corvette ZR-1, and traveling around the country in his 40-foot custom-built bus.

Take it easy on Clarence Thomas, man.

I'll be honest, I think black cop told his superiors.

I think he was "encouraged" to not see it how he saw it.

If not, then at the least, I think the black cop feared for his career if he told his superiors.

Given the last few months, I just find it hard to believe that if he felt comfortable coming forward with that info, he wouldn't have.

He's also (was) 50.

It's pretty clear he's no marathoner.

Agreed. The whole thing is just bizarre and is almost like a bad movie.

The pathetic slow escape on foot (when his identity is known) and the cop calmly and methodically shooting him blatantly in the back under no threat at all obviously. This all not to mention what looks like planting of evidence and some random dude getting near perfect footage of it on his phone.

Y'all need to settle down. What this video doesn't show is that he bends down and picks it back up a couple seconds later.

It's as if the other cop tells him "Don't do that, I won't cover for you."
