Just watched the video. Wow!
What was she arrested for?
Wait, resisting arrest?
Well, then what was the first "arrest" for? Not putting out her cigarette in her own car?
Then he refuses to tell her why she was "apprehended" like not only she asked, but like he is required to do. Obviously, the cop did not cause her suicide. But now the settlement will be be even bigger.
Cop deserves discipline big time.
I really hate pigs like this.

EDT: Then he lies afterwards on the dispatch.

The cop was out of line. She was smoking in her car and had a right to be upset. She never threatens the cop or becomes belligerent until he tells her to get out. He was on a power trip and was obnoxious. Hopefully he loses his job....STILL she killed herself. That's on her.

I don't know how far you guys got in the vid but at around the 23:00 mark the Trooper is on the phone with what is likely his Sgt. He retells the story and damn is he making it sound good

Total fabrications for the most part

If I were a Georgia fan, I would clearly be on suicide watch.

Just checking to make sure I understand :

When I get pulled over for a legit traffic infraction and react to said traffic stop in a totally inappropriate manner the PO PO should taje actions to make sure they are safe during the stop (exit the vehicle to make sure I don't have a weapon or won't take off ) then when I fail to comply take further action ? So, they should "ok mam, sorry you are crazy didn't mean to pull you over and go about your business "

Some of you need a reality check. This woman dictated everything from the beginning. As in most situations , her actions triggered a trained response. PO PO do not have seconds , minutes or hours to climb into a person's mind and try to figure out if they mean harm. Just comply with the simple requests, take your ticket and deal with it in court.

Why is the focus on the cop? If the cop did everything that cops need to do to appease the OT, what opinion would change? Are people blaming the cop for a woman killing herself for feeling mistreated?

I have to followed this story, so maybe I'm missing something.

In reality the cop should not have asked questions about why she was upset. It's bad form. He is unprofessional and needs additional training. He has the obligation of diffusing situations not making them worse. Her behavior is not illegal. Maybe unbecoming but not illegal.

Yes, some are. And on this site, this can't surprise you. This place has a surprisingly high across the board hatred for police officers than anywhere I've seen, except maybe prisons.

Words have meanings. Nothing forced you or him or her to do any of those things. Forced implies the lack of choice. And yes, this seems to be a question of semantics and using words incorrectly to convey a point.

I agree this cop is a complete turd, she explained making the lane change and it made perfect sense, the pull over was just being a dickface. Then he acts like he can't understand why she is miffed about, so she explains, then his "are you done?", the guy is a complete jack arse and seems to have no self realization of it.

Plus "I'm issuing a lawful order, get out of the car", crap is so absurd, it's the same ole same ole, he wants to search her car with no legitimate reasonable cause. We all know what's going on here, or should, the cop looks like a complete shithole, because that's what he is.

No it's just 99% of controversial cop news stories posted involve the cop being or perceived to be in the wrong, bc that's what makes it news worthy. Couple that with Baton Rouge being a high crime city with the middle class and the hood blocks from each other in most areas, and the majority of posters living around campus (right next to the hood) it's easy to bitch ab law enforcement. I think most posters here truly respect police in general. I don't tho, frick DA POLICE

You must have watched a different video than me. She was upset for being pulled over. She probably could have handled it better, but it isn't illegal to be pissed off. He asked her to express why she's upset. He then escalated the situation to more than what it was (a simple traffic stop) because she was giving him verbal shite.

It doesn't seem like he was planning on making her get out of the car. She was about to sign the ticket and get out of there when he asked her to explain why she was upset, and she complied. Then it seems that he decided he was going to give this uppity bitch something to complain about.
