Why would anyone want to be a cop and deal with that?

The dude called for as much force as that cop could give as soon as he resisted. In other words, when a cop tries to arrest you, you need to relax your arms....because let's be honest, once a cop starts trying to arrest you, then you are going to be in jail that night no matter what. Resisting in any way is stupid because it never actually results in you not being arrested.

I see no problem other than resisting...only wish the cop would have razed his arse.

He told the guys to take a walk. They didn't listen. They resisted.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Props to the trooper for keeping his cool and handling the situation as best he could.

I am just joking when I posted "cops are the biggest gang in America". You can't reason with people drunk out of their minds. They seemed to be a public nuisance and it seemed like the only option to get rid of those frick weeds.

That police officer gave them ample opportunity to act right, but they continued to be pole smokers. I've learned throughout the years that if you aren't a drunk, belligerent, abrasive frick head, then you usually aren't treated like that.

i'm actually surprised 3-4 NOPD officers didn't come in and clean house

They were actually quite lucky to be dealing with a State Trooper. NOPD wouldn't have been quite so gentle.

Man that guy is one lucky son of a bitch the cop didn't crack his skull open on the corner of that trash can and spill his brains all over Bourbon Street.

The trooper was very polite while he tried to reason with the two drunks. When it became apparent that they could not be reasoned with he politely asked them a few times to leave. They were not having it.

Usually, in LEO violence threads, I am against the thug in uniform. All the OT LEO's down vote me. This trooper showed incredible restraint and I am on his side. I hope they both ended up with a few knots on their heads.

Okay, watched the video. Have some observations.

Can't tell what led up to it. Not sure if the guys deserved it but I'm not sure that matters at this point.

At 30 seconds, the guy is fighting the cop way too much. Should have walked away when presented the opportunity. I don't think stupidity is in of itself enough reason for government to physically assault you but there are rules here and he clearly broke them by trying to squirrel away. The cop likely had just cause to detain.

At 36 seconds, that body slam is pretty intense. I'm not sure how else to get him down, and he was outnumbered, so I kinda understand. Should have called for backup, but I digress. That drunk guy nearly got killed. I'd estimate that his cranium was 2 inches from the corner of that metal trash can box and that could have been really really bad.

At 1:07 the cop takes the perp's phone and tosses it aside. Kind of petty but whatever. The perp's calm reaction "really?" made me lol.

Overall I give this cop video a 6/10. Nothing obvious to complain about, decent framing and angles even though it was filmed vertically, and it did have moments of solid action.

Glad nobody was seriously hurt.

I love It when perps get their heads handed to them after "playing dumb".
This whole idea of resisting, by arguing with cops and playing dumb when given orders .... Crack their heads a couple of times and the dumb act mysteriously disappears.

Cop needs to be locked up. He told them to talk a walk and they didn't so I am all for them being arrested, the problem is he never told them he was arresting them or to even turn around before he started slamming them. If he had said "you are under arrest" and then they didn't immediately comply then great, slam them, but you can't just start slamming people without giving them a chance to comply.
