its funny. You should watch it. The guy frustrates them talking about mowers and when should he expect his check from them. Towards the end its NSFW when he starts railing on them.

That's actually pretty funny, but I'm guessing the real scammers will hang up after a minute or so, and move on to the next customer on their list.

Could be staged, but if they think they have a sucker on the hook they'll stay with it. I've done that a few times.

the irony is their time is worth a LOT less than, well, at least MY own time. so who's the sucker here?

But I don't spend every waking second on the clock. Messing with them is entertainment. If the marginal utility of jerking them around exceeds the opportunity cost of the time spent jerking them around, you come out ahead.

i know. i was just messin. As if anyone who's on here any significant time has any room to talk.

my mom messes with the IRS Indians (dot) all the time and tells me about it.

John C. Dvorak on No Agenda Podcast does it and records it. It's pretty amusing.

Oh it's real as frick. Only reason I haven't done what that dude in the video did is because I never answer numbers I don't know. I think it redirects to look like its a 225 area code so there's no way to know when it's them

Telemarketers are taught that the longer they keep you on the line, the less likely you are to hang up and will listen to their pitch. That's why they say "How Are You Today?" instead of telling right off what they want.

Tom Woods also did this on his podcast. I forget which episode number it is but it's less than two months ago. Pretty good stuff.

I do this whenever I have time.

I make up all kinds of shite to keep them going. I tell them about my grandkids and my time in 'Nam (I'm 31). I always make the "dot not feather" joke about Indians very casually to insult them.

When they tell me that their name is Pete or Mary from the IRS with that language, I try to get them to tell me their real name. "C'mon, your name is NOT Peter. We both know that"

The next time they call, thank them for saving your life. Tell them you have cancer and your care costs $250,000 a year.

Tell them if they arrest you then the government will have to pay for your medical care.

Ask them how soon they can pick you up.

I just always tell them to "call me back on this number," and give them the number to the county sheriff's office.
