Pretty unimaginable to think this person is still employed as a police officer after the first offense, much less subsequent offenses. Then you remember it’s NOLA
If I did criminal defense in new orleans, I'd be so hard right now.

There is a whole lot to unpack here, but this part actually made me laugh:
If I were caught doing what he did, as a private citizen, not a police officer, would I not have been arrested and charged with a crime?
But they concluded that he didn't even need any reminders about policy or remedial education?
How is that real?

The investigation concluded, “No tactical, policy, or education and training recommendations were needed by the officer.”

Sometimes you gotta fight fire with meth.

Joker, smoker, and midnight toker, Steve Miller knew this guy in a previous life, no doubt about it.

He admitted to being in possession of and using a clear glass pipe (drug paraphernalia) to smoke the ‘meth,’ which meant that P.O. Bailey was under the influence while operating a city vehicle during his tour of duty. Being under the influence of a dangerous substance could have affected P.O. Bailey’s perception, performance, judgment, reactions and/or senses while working, which could have been a public safety hazard.”
Yet there are still some malcontents on this very board that defend that shite city

Let he who hasn't conducted armed patrols in the name of public safety while gacked on meth toss the first stone. I'll start.

They're so short handed they kept a meth head?

He's likely helping to get meth off the streets.......then destroying it so it cannot be used by kids or lost in the sieve they call an evidence locker.

Pretty sure if I got caught smoking meth in my office I’d be unemployed before I was off my high.

There was a NOPD officer that got drunk and hit another vehicle on the CCC 20-something years back, killing the other driver...I knew the officer through a mutual friend. He struck me as a good guy that effed up royally. It's no excuse for what he did, but I don't believe he was charged or convicted of DWI prior to that. The fact that this Officer has a prior history, and command brushed it off...WOW. As has already been said, well, it's NOLA.

This guy should have been arrested and charged with several felony counts.
He should have been put on unpaid leave pending termination.
Now, all cases he worked will be reviewed and convictions will be in danger of being overturned or sent for retrial. He should be paying those costs.
But the damage to NOPD is huge - even by their standards.
