I don't think I recall a recent disaster where the number of missing keeps growing days after the event. There are reports now that as many as 3,000 are missing.

I mean the videos make it pretty clear the death toll on this thing will be underestimated.

Wonder if this is form the school with the 700 kids? Two kids in school uniforms escape with second to spare.

Somewhere Patrick Swayze is watching that and begging Keanu Reeves to uncuff him.

We will likely never know the real cause of this. I don't buy the face of an glacier breaking off. That ice would still have to melt. This was a MASSIVE release of water all at once.

And the death toll way be way more than 3000.

This type of event isn't unprecedented, but the scale is. I'd like a real investigation into the extensive work being done in the region by the chinese and what impact it may have had. It also needs to be determined what advanced warning of the flood the chinese had and if they failed to provide warning downstream. It is being said by some that they had as much as 45 minutes lead time on the flood portion of the disaster (not the initial glacial collapse).

Unfortunately, conspiracy talk moves fast online because it gets the clicks, and the line between reality and pure fiction is quickly blurred. That only serves to benefit any part bearing responsibility by muddying the waters.

In the link I posted the guy is saying a 1 mile wide chunk of glacier broke off and instantly liquified. The wave of water was traveling down the valley at more than 100 mph.

There was nothing to be done for the crossing area, it was taken out by the initial collapse and landslide.

The villages and towns downriver/mountain from there were impacted from the natural dam that occurred on the river collapsing. That 45 mile distance he mentioned......those towns and villages could have had more warning.

Great video! I urge everyone to watch that. That guy gave a great explanation of what happened.

This right here. I'm almost convinced the earth was reset about 12K years ago by a large scale flood event.

Seems like I read somewhere about this happening.

The Younger Dryas period. Rapid cooling followed by rapid warming, around 12K years ago.

You can use Wiki as a starting point if you are interested in reading up on it.

Have you already forgotten the doublet earthquake that occurred in Venezuela on June 26th?

No, and I've followed it closely. The number of missing never went up like this has.

Probably because they grossly overestimated the death count

When it first happened, I saw estimates of dead between 10K - 100K.

Right now it is "only" around 6500.
