People like to arrange others into these little subgroups and try to out victimize each other. It's an interesting phenomenon.

People use it like VIP pass. It gets you attention, it gives you "perceived" credibility, and you can wield it like a shield to deflect any & all criticism. It's absolutely a plague on our society.

Everyone has a story; mine happens to be having to spend almost four years of my childhood in hospitals and dozens of surgeries (there were some other things, but who cares?). Others have had it far worse, abuse, neglect, broken families, deaths, life-altering injury, etc. Bad things happen to people, and we can make excuses and blame others, but what good does that do? How does it help us?

My favorite is the victim-hero.
They claim they're heroes for standing up in the face of adversity but never cease to remind everyone how they're the victims of some giant machine.
