My little dog is 3 1/2 years old, and I’ve noticed a few things lately. She will not jump up on the couch any more and does not like jumping off the couch, but will do it after some hesitation. Up until now, she had no problems doing either of these things.
I’ve also noticed her front knees are starting to turn outwards, as well as her paws.
Is this arthritis?
Is there a treatment for this?

Why not just take her to an actual vet for an exam?

yes that is arthritis and not much can be done but a vet can give you medicine to make them hurt less and they make puppy ramps now to help them get up and down on sofas and beds

also will help them a lot if you get in the habit to carry them everywhere when you move around so they can be with you without aggravating their leg joints to do it

Probably because all that heavy arse collar and all the shite hanging from it. That shite probably weighs more than she does

. OP, get her stairs for getting on couch and bed. Reduce grains in diet.

That’s a cat collar on here because she is so tiny. She weighs 4.5 lbs. we used a harness made for a Guinea pig when she was a puppy, because she was so tiny. She was under 1 lb when we got her.

I’ve got the same problem with my 8 year old wiener dog. He is struggling big time. It’s always the back and neck.... I’m taking him to vet tomorrow not expecting good news.....

When our aussie had some arthritis at a young age, the vet said to try glucosamine. She offered to sell me some, but it was much cheaper at the Dollar General. She got a spoonful of peanut butter and a glucosamine tablet for the rest of her very active life.

Go to the vet. I find it hard to believe it’s arthritis at such a young age. I’ve had a few Boston Terriers (16-20 lbs) and they don’t develop it until they are around 10 yrs old. They have a couple of meds that help (including glucosamine supplements and prescription food). My 13 yr old Boston can walk 2+ miles on a walk easily.

3.5 seems a little young for that

But I don't know much about cats so maybe that's normal with them

Our Chihuahua who died at nearly 18 years old had arthritis. He weighed about 9.5 lbs. He didn't really start having problems until the last couple years, but the vet gave him a liquid medicine that really helped. I never gave it to him as often as it called for (every day), but I did every other day. I can't for the life of me remember the name if it now.

Her being so young, though, I'd definitely have the vet check her out thoroughly. With pups, as in humans, with some types if arthritis the progression can be slowed significantly or stopped, but the damage can't be undone.

My 13yo Yorkie just started on Metacam this year for joint issues. It’s a liquid anti-inflammatory for pain/arthritis. It has helped and doesn’t seem to have any negative side effects.

That is likely not arthritis
Go to the vet
3 year old small breed dogs don’t tend to have a lot of arthritis
My money is on intervertebral disc disease

purpgoldblood has nailed the problem. My wife, no pics, is a veterinarian and says it is a cervical disk. You will definitely have to take her to the vet for X-rays.
