While ugly as a dog turd, it's still better than this litter box on wheels....

My parents had a motor home after they retired and would spend months on the road. In the right situation they are very much worth it.

Uh everyone I've ever known with an rv has either a separate garage for it or parks it at an rv/marina when not in use.

We used to go camping when I was younger in my grandparent's RV. I just don't personally think it's something that I would enjoy as an adult. There are definitely a few nice RV parks that we went to, but I don't think I would want to spend 80k+ on a camper to visit them regularly. Not to mention the fuel costs to get there. I'd rather spend that money on other vacations where I just get a hotel room. I would like an RV to tailgate, but could never justify the cost just for that.
This also brings up all the crappy RV parks you see on the side of the highway or interstate. The ones that are just shell parking lots with campers parked 10' from each other. Do people really want to visit these parks? Or is that people who live out of their camper and can only afford to live there? It's mind boggling to me that these places even exist.

Also must be noted that many of these you see at tailgates and in a garage 51 weeks a year are BUSINESS vehicles. I don't need to go into the benefits of that do I?

A lot of these parks are also filled with travelling construction workers. I personally used a 40' travel trailer the entire time I was travelling. I'd get per diem on the road and pay 350/month for a travel trailer spot as opposed to paying 60-100/day for a hotel room. I was able to bank my per diem money instead of spending it all on shitty hotel rooms.

My parents old neighbor has a pimping RV. They take it to all the Bama home games and spend Thursday through Saturday night in it 7-8 times a year. And they've gone to road games as well. Took a 3 month trip in it a few years ago. I guess if you're retired and insanely wealthy it would be nice. But I wouldn't get one and park it most of the year. Hotels are much cheaper. But for tailgating they are awesome. Park it and set up the satellite for TV. Have a king sized bed to sleep in and a shower and kitchen. No need for coolers since you have a fridge and freezer.

The soul is a shitbox, but it is a very roomy shitbox.
I don't underztand anyone who buys a truck or suv and it isn't a 4wd.
If it has a transfer case, the mileage is similar. The first time you need it, for ice, mud, snow, or even pulling something in wet grass, it is worth it.
As for the canam...meh. Check out the polaris that was demoed recently.

I came here to defend the Soul a bit, but then I actually thought about what cars people must cross-shop the thing with and then I realized I don't really know why it exists either
i had a rental car reservation to drive cross-country when gas was $4/gallon. I picked a high-MPG category. I go to pick up the car, and they try to give me a Soul. I looked up the MPG, and the real-world figure was less than 30 highway.
I talked my way into a loaded Escape that got the same MPG. Far superior vehicle (I'm sure it costs a lot more though).

I'll wait for global warming to deliver you an ice storm. Or for you to take a drive north during snow season.
Nothing worse than all seasons and 2wd in ice amd snow. I could see if there was a noticeable difference in mileage, but thwre really isn't and a 4x4 holds it's value better.
