Vehicle hail damage - how does insurance handle this? (UPDATE: Pg. 3)

My pretty new F150 just got smoked by golf ball sized hail while I was hunting.
American National insurance. How has your insurance handled a hail damaged vehicle in the past? Just trying to know what to expect before I file a claim. Hood and roof are pretty dinged up as are the A pillars.
Kind of worried about it showing on the Carfax or title being marked hail damaged. Don’t really know how that all works.

Its under your comprehensive coverage. Insurance will cover the damage minus your comp deductible. May or may not get reported to Carfax
Call the insurance company to report the claim and they’ll tell you the next step…whether they send an adjuster to you or if there’s a particular location you need to bring the truck to get an estimate done. They may recommend certain repair shops, but ultimately you can choose whatever shop you want to handle the repairs

They raise the rates of everyone, including yourself to pay for it.

Yep. Comp claim. But your insurance won’t report it to Carfax. However they will report it to ISO (like every carrier is required to so for every claim) and Carfax may pull it from there.
And just FYI, comp claims should not raise your rate.

They’ll write a PDR (paintless dent repair) estimate and provide you with a copy. Give that to the shop of your choice and they’ll have a PDR guy come by to review the estimate and do the work. Any discrepancies will be documented and they’ll send an updated estimate to your insurance for review and an additional payment
If any panels are absolutely destroyed the insurance company would pay to replace them.

Get a quote first.
If it’s not excessive, go get a loan from the bank and pay for it and just pay the loan back.
You will come out way ahead in the long run by doing versus putting stuff on your insurance.
They are gonna raise your rates if you put it on insurance.

it falls under the comprehensive part, just like a rock cracked windshield

You are talking out of your arse. This is absolutely not true. This is a non-chargeable event in pretty much every state. That means they cannot raise your rates.
As someone mentioned above they may raise the rate on everyone in the area if there are a large enough amount of claims. But that means the rates even get raised on everyone, even people who didn’t have hail damage.

My agent would first ask me "why tf you hunting in hail", but he's just like that, and then fix it.

A hail storm trashed my Dodge Ram and just handled it like a normal claim. It was like $9K repair job and they weren’t going to total it.

Were you in a stand when that hail moved through. I’ve never hunted in hail. I’m sure it would absolutely suck though

Doesn’t take much hail damage to total a vehicle.
I have American National too. I had a total no fault of mine I had to claim and they were easy to work with.

Comp claims are non-chargeable events. A rock in a windshield claim is the same as a hail claim - both comp.
Reach out to your agent. They will tell you the same thing.
