Does anyone actually use these? I mean, I use the tow/haul when towing a heavier load, but other than that is this just a worthless computer feature?

My truck has normal, eco, tow/haul, snow/wet, and sport modes. Truck has been on normal for 99.9% of operation.

Tow/haul usually locks the torque converter and keeps rpms above a certain level. If you are towing without it, you could be putting additional stress on your torque converter. Otherwise, it probably just alters the shift points and whatnot in other modes.

I have played around with a few of them on my F150. I have used the eco mode when driving long distances on highways and it does help a little with fuel mileage as it keeps the gears changing at a lower rpm. I have used sport mode as well when I knew I had a passing lane coming up so that it would keep my in my powerband longer with higher rpms when shifting. I generally keep mine in normal mode most of the time because it suits my driving fine around town

Yes... On performance vehicles it adjusts the transmission shift points, adjusts suspension, steering, traction control, etc

I don't have modes in my vehicle, but I assume I'd use "eco" mode on long trips just to see if it worked.

I mean, I get putting a 911 or an M5 into sport mode for those reasons.

But I’m talking for F150 (me) or shite like a Chevy Traverse.

I like a car without modes.

I used to have a car that had "sport" and "normal," and I used "sport" a lot because "normal" used shifting logic that was obsessed with fuel economy (and I'm not)

If youre doing normal driving 99.9% of the time then why would you use the other modes?

For a truck it will adjust your transmission shift points which helps with towing. It will adjust the shocks if programmable to help with the load.

Well, I drive in wet weather a lot, but I don’t change my vehicle mode into snow/wet. I’m curious as to whether anyone actually uses this stuff.

The only thing I could tell snow/wet does is reduce takeoff power to reduce tire slippage. I guess it’s a feature for retards who don’t know how to drive.

I use ride comfort, highway speed driving mode and acceleration modes pretty often.

If I had variable suspension I would definitely use that. I only have apparent transmission modes all but 2 of which (normal and tow) just seem to be fluff.

My vehicle has a hill climb mode which can lock/unlock rear diff and apply independent braking to each wheel.

I've used it for heavy snow up north and for trail riding in Moab.

It is extraordinary what it can do for a novice driver.

I use mine but it actually changes the waste gate spring settings on the turbo and throttle response is different so you definitely feel it. Non sporty cars it doesn’t really do a whole lot except alter the shift points but I drive a manual so I decide when to shift. Sports cars have additional things like adjustable dampers so your suspension and handling will change with these settings as well.

My car doesn’t have adaptive suspension, so changing the driving mode only affects throttle response, steering, and transmission programming. That said, it does make a noticeable difference. Has a sport, normal, and eco mode.

I love how high performance track focused cars have sport modes.

Like yea I just dropped 200k on a Porsche GT3 RS and I will be using the normal mode...

I get having a "track" mode but just make the "sport" mode standard lol.
