I am too but from what I hear it's hard to get residency there. I've heard of people teaching English part time to get it. I've been reading about. I know a guy that retired to rural Japan for 180 days at a time. Comes to Houston for 30 days like 2 ir 3 times a year and stays with his daughter and goes to doctor checkups. He applied like 2 years ago and hasn't gotten approval yet.

I’ll never go to a big epic resort again. It’s amazing how much cheaper we can do a family vacation at Whitefish vs park city or breck. We saved over 50%

I know multiple people that either cancelled their trips out west to Breck, Beaver Creek, etc, because it's simply not worth the cost of flying out west and dropping $15k for terrible conditions versus either going to VT/ME/NH or simply flying to Europe and getting way more for the dollar.
You obviously don’t ski or you are being absurdly obtuse.
The mountains in the Rockies are exponentially better than the east coast. Size, facilities, etc. The snow is also exponentially better.
Everyone west of the east coast would rather go to CO/ UT, etc if they have one or 2 ski trips a year they plan ahead. By everyone, I mean 99% of people.
This was a very down year for Utah and CO. That’s just weather.

How much were flights into Kalispell? I’ve only been during the summer when Glacier is at peak and flights never got below $600/person

They want to sell passes vs day lift tickets so they aren’t so reliant on the weather, but I think it backfired.
Kind of like golf in the same boat.
We want you to get a monthly membership plus purchase a minimum amount of food and still pay a cart fee.
I forgot to add this markup at some courses. We need you to buy a share of stock in the course. You should make enough now and don’t qualify for a junior membership.
Just think if Gym Memberships worked like golf memberships and the need to purchase stock to join the club and additional fees to use certain pieces of equipment.

I worked in the ski industry for close to 20 years, both full time and part time. Vail industries has effectively destroyed the industry in the United States.

Gen Z won’t save vail resorts……bad decision…..
Should cater to Boomers….they are the Kings of spending on recreation by a factor of 100 easily…….and as they hit the age for MMW (mandatory minimum withdrawal) from 401 K , spending ramps upward….
The CEO of vail resorts is a RETARD…….of magnificent proportion…
Either fire the ceo or pray for a 500 inch season staring this fall…..otherwise Vail Resorts hits bankruptcy…..MMW ( mark my words)…
Here is what they should start.
No boarders Monday, Tuesday , Thursday
Free coffee and hot chocolate for those over 65
Senior ( over 65) discounted season passes….

same and agree
at first it seemed so great - i can ski all these mountains one one pass? wow!
and now lift tickets are over $300. parking at vail is $50 a day. want to have lunch at two elk lodge? that's gonna run you $30 a person at least. and get ready for a couple four hours in traffic from denver each way
i cut my teeth as a young buck at squaw valley (now the palisades. gay). i miss the days of knowing that single mountain like the back of my hand - all the secret stashes, all the waiters and bartenders, all the ski patrol and lifties. those days are essentially gone forever.
i pretty much only ski loveland now. it still has some soul

Never skiied Loveland….. but I am on the other side of vail do I go there.
Vail reports didn’t ruin anything. Just catering to the clientele, which is a lot of international visitors, Mexico, Australia, Britain send lots.
I take my own sandwich for lunch and have it at the top. TBH I am pretty much done after eating though. Once a ski instructor told me that 80% of ski accidents are post lunch.
If you ski a lot the season pass still makes sense . Parking for county residents is cheaper. I see lots of Denverites parking on street across I70 then taking the free bus over, to avoid parking costs….

I've been skiing Crested Butte for almost forty years, the resort at the base used to be a really cool and fun place to hang out during and after skiing, it's sucked since they bought it, a friend who lives in Gunnison and skis all over CO says it's pretty much the same at the other properties they own, shame because Steamboat used to be a great place to go

could also agree with lots of this. i have a buddy that lives in vail and i park at his house, take the bus to the slopes. but that doesn't work for everyone. i bring my lunch too but sometimes the siren song of that elk chili in a bread bowl is too much to pass up lol
honestly i think i know more people who live on the east coast and by and epic or ikon pass to get a few days in there but plan around a week long ski vacation, which kind of makes sense
the best thing about loveland is it doesn't have enough parking to get super crowded. they just don't have the capacity. weekdays, if i don't just ride right onto the chair, i wait maybe a minute in line. it's much larger than what you can see from driving through the tunnel

Yeah just looked and if i were to take my wife and kids for a weekend trip this weekend it would be about 3k. They can frick right off with that

Vail Resorts bubble will have to burst. They've ruined some of the best ski spots in the country with their pricing.
As kids, my parents took us skiing twice a year and it was relatively affordable. It's outrageous now.
frick them.
