My problem with the black history month stuff isn't the focus on historical black moments and accomplishments, it is that they throw in shite like rappers, athletes and actors as historical accomplishments. And not talking Jackie Robinson kind of stuff, no they will have shite like Denzel and Halle Berry winning oscars like that matters in the long run. Then you hear about the peanut guy for a week every year.

As a History major and big time history buff, I think it racist to relegate black history to a single month (which just so happens to be the shortest month of the year). But that's just me.

Do you think a parent of a public school child has the right to opt them out of algebra?

lol, algebra and black history are polar opposites in almost every single way.

My son is doing a middle school project for Black History month about a black American that inspires him. I loved his choice of Ben Carson- a very inspiring person. The Helping Hands movie about his life was pretty damn good.

They will be allowed to dress up as the person who they chose. The school is 95% white, what could go wrong?

I think it is racist to have a black history month, period. That’s just me.

They didn’t though. Peanut butter had already been invented by the time George Washington Carver wrote his book.

Look man, white people have space shuttles and automobiles. Let us have peanut butter.

There are other cultural months - Hispanic is sept 15-oct 15, Native American/First Nations is November, Asian/Pacific islander is may.

Looks like a big chunk of the world is left out.

They're smarter than white people in that regard.

So, by their own admission, they are now refusing families and students to exercise their civil rights.

Man, I wish an attorney would step up and eat their lunch with this bullshitstorm.

What a completely and utterly irrelevant content.

Bunch of silly progressives in this thread - “Oh, I don’t like this. That must mean I have a right to make other bend to my will.”

No attorney that spent more than 5 minutes in Con Law I would go near that case.

I think it really matters what the curriculum is. If it's standard historical teaching but with a focus on Black Americans, I don't see any reason to let kids opt out. If it's full of Critial Race indoctrination bullshite, then you better God damn belive I'm opting my kids out and raising hell at the school if they try to stop it.
