Not doing that well for the most part. Untrained housewives in many cases outperform trained teachers, who teach at the public level. Yeah, we need them. Just need them to be better.

Nope. Just nope.
There is a thing called liability. Humans can be held liable. AI cannot.
Liabity drives a lot more than most truly realize.

Accounting, finance, and business should be more of a 2 year trade degree. Most are engineering flunk outs anyways.

I have a 4 year accounting degree from LSU. I have long argued that the degree could have been earned in 2 or no more than 3 years.
Some classes were astronomy, biology, geography, journalism, American history, and literature. These are just courses forced on business students to bolster the attendance for non popular departments.
The thinking is that they want to develop “well rounded” students. Students should be able to choose to attend and pay for a “well rounded” 4 year degree or a two year concentrated degree without the fluff.

The ones that bother me most are the degrees that literally only qualify you to teach that same subject. Women's Studies? You can be a politician or teach Women's Studies. What else are you doing with it?

Based on a legislative audit. Consequently the University of Utah cuts 81 "degrees" access a wide range of fields, such as humanities, fine arts, ENGINEERING, science, and business.
“Engineering”????? Man, you obviously DID NOT read the article.

Hate to tell you this but business admin is a completely useless undergrad degree. That’s where the worst business students reside. The good ones are typically advised to switch to another program or outright poached by other majors.
If if I was hiring someone for my Fortune 500 company, I would look for someone who can think and write. Maybe even one of those nasty liberal arts majors. Our in house training program can teach them anything else they need to know.
Even if I was hiring an engineer, I would look favorably on someone whose background showed they could think outside the box and comminicate.

From my experience, employers want to hire someone that is dependable, has good communication skills, can critically think, and is coachable. I try to make sure my students fit that mold.

English Creative Writing guy here and I 100% agree with this. Totally worthless degree

I don’t agree with this being legislated in this manner, but I see utility in withholding federal loans for these degrees.
There has to be a better way
