I remember watching the Kidd “sail” up the river when I was in 4th grade.

When I say sail, I mean towed by tugs.

It gets out of the water almost every dry season, but not usually by this much.

Maybe its just me, but it seems really stupid to stand underneath an old arse boat that has been sitting in water for decades.

And they're not even wearing hard hats.

Somebody once said some divers saw a catfish that could swallow 3 people whole under the USS KIDD one time.

Yeah I heard a similar story about a salvage diver inspecting a flipped barge and some earthmoving equipment once.

It's amazing to me how many people have seen catfish big enough to swallow a man whole in that river. You'd think one would bite at some point, or get hit by a prop and wash up.

I slept on the Kidd when I was a kid. Got to live like a sailor for a night. Then hammocks were a tight fit.

Man eating catfish got them all. Or currents.

If they find a 55 gallon drum though... open with caution.

Cool! They are doing maintenance on the hull this week because it’s easier to access now.

They should get the fraternities to make their pledges do it.
