Maybe its just me, but it seems really stupid to stand underneath an old arse boat that has been sitting in water for decades. Not that i expect it to fall, but just seems dumb to be underneath it.

It actually looks like it's not centered on those pillars. Like it could easily move off the piers and list towards the levee if a barge hits it hard enough from the river side after the water comes up.

I know it floats when the water is high so I guess that structure holds it in place pretty well.

Probably a good time to throw some lines for catfish right now. Can probably just drop your line right off the ledge.

I think they put the homeless folks in a shelter when it gets this cold. And there are a bunch of hipsters out there taking pictures of this for their global warming blogs. The homeless don't like to hang around them anymore than you do.

But agribusinesses from the midwest are going to have trouble exporting.

IDK...I would think most of the cutting has already been done for the winter and now they have to move whats being stored and or finish cutting before the snow and ice comes......plus the River usually freezes at St Louis every year, I'd imagine with the low water and cold weather will really impact exports from the Midwest

If they can move this by rail, it's probably going to be a good year for Warren Buffett.

shouldn't they be dredging the shite out of the river with it being so low. isn't that a pretty big issue in certain parts of the river?

Can you imagine graduating about 3 years ago with your supply chain degree, all bright eyed and ready to take on the world.

Then COVID hits, Big Joe and his gay rep sit ships off the coast, and now the Mississippi River is drying up.

Your dream job became an immediate nightmare.

Yeah I was just reading about it on the USS Kidd Museum website. Cool setup with the mooring dolphins that let it rise and fall with the river, keeps the views of the ship clear from the levee (for tourist photos), but also protect it's port side from being hit by barges.

Looks like we'd run out of levee protection before the Kidd would run out of head room on that mooring in high water.

It's a cool museum if anyone hasn't been yet. If you have kids that are between 7-12 years old - they are going to love it.

The channel between the Morganza spillway and the area around Port Hudson is much shallower than it used to be. In 2011 when they opened the floodway, the river current slowed south of Morganza. A lot of the suspended sediment dropped onto the riverbed and kind of silted it up.

They really need to dredge that section out every time they open the floodway. Or they are going to end up having to open it almost every damn spring.

It depends on how they approach it. If they were wanting to take a job where they just phoned in their effort, they are shitting themselves. If they're the type to want a big challenge to overcome, this presents HUGE opportunities.

I'm just waiting to see if it gets low enough for us to start finding as many bodies as has been found in the drying-up Lake Mead.

Yeah, but think of the opportunities for that individual if you can make shite happen. And you can. This is the type of situation where you can increase you’re value and marketability.

Supply Chain related consulting fields right now are extremely hot. It's been that way for a while, but it's gotten insane in the Biden era.
