I am all for helping the poor, but this wasn't the point behind EBT cards.

Transportation is often an issue for people without much money and if they can more easily get access to needed items, plus some extra perks - have at it.

Am I supposed to be made that for a couple bus rides cost they get free shipping to their home?

EBT should only be for a 3 month period to "assist" people. No issue there.

But then you are done!! Get to work if you want things.

Amazon has gone from 75 a year,to 100, to 115, to 130 now I believe... If they didn't charge 10.99 a month just for unlimited photos I would cancel

Yeah I don't know how Amazon is getting around state laws here. Unless it's only specific states that allow it.

I don't even like the general concept of businesses subsidising the poors, whether it be this, cell phones, cable, internet.

I know it's within their rights, but it just makes it all the less motivating for people to work towards career advancement.

Because of this reason I think it actually hurts the poors over the long term more than it helps in the short term.

lol Amazon takes EBT? I guess I could see why they promote something like this. Miles well since Amazon is just stomping on the neck of anyone they can.

I believe you are misinterpreting the promotion. It’s not that you can use an EBT card on Amazon prime. I think it’s just a discount on the Amazon Prime membership for people who have an EBT card. They still have to pay for products like the rest of us. Cell phone and internet companies have similar deals where you get discounted basic services if you have an EBT card.

I’m curious though if EBT is usable for the grocery segment.

I bet they are.

Trying to break into what made Walmart so big.

This has been the Democratic Party’s plan since the Civil Rights Movement.

They dont "take" EBT. But an EBT card can be used to prove you're poor and qualify you for the discount (as can a Medicaid card).

When I used to workout at the YMCA they did the same shite. I had to pay $40 a month while proof of being poor would get the same membership forr like $9 a month. (Don't think they take EBT as proof). Why does no one complain about that? Amazon is not unique in this.

Apparently you are right:

Amazon has partnered with the U.S. government to allow SNAP EBT as a payment method on SNAP eligible items in select states. SNAP item eligibility is set by the government and follows the same guidelines as purchases made with SNAP EBT cards in stores. Items must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com or AmazonFresh. To receive free access to Prime Pantry and AmazonFresh selection or to pay using SNAP EBT, simply add a valid SNAP EBT card issued by a participating state to your account as a payment method. For more information and a list of eligible states based on government guidelines, please visit www.amazon.com/SNAP. Note: See About AmazonFresh and About Prime Pantry for Prime shipping fees and thresholds per program. You can find more information at www.amazon.com/SNAP. Cash EBT cards are not accepted
