Any have any experience with this? What's the benefit?

Decent price from certified dealer with no haggling. I've had great luck with it.

I just get the low rate and a pre approval, and look at the pricing for me to go haggle with and make my own deal.

Don't! Better deals are to be had by doing it yourself. Trust me. They work with True Car it's a rip off.

You can use it to get a lower rate. Just submit the request through the service, then negotiate what ever price, considering the .5% rate savings. If the dealer doesn't hit your price, go somewhere else.

This... I did the same thing and got a better price than what USAA quoted me.

I went in last night to a dealership that called me after going through the whole car buying service deal. Of course, they don't have exactly what I was requesting through the site so I end up looking around at their inventory. I'm looking at a 2016 Toyota Camry SE with an XSP body kit. The sticker price on it is around 29k or so. They show me where they are applying the USAA "discount" of about 4k to bring me to 25k before they add back 2k for some Toyota care package. I'm back at 27k. Add tax, tag, and title, and they have me at 29k again.
I said no to that and they put tell me to give them a price. I put that I would pay 23,750 before tax, tag, and title which brought the total to 26,400. The guy takes it to his manager who comes back and in says they can do it for 28,700. I stood at 26,400. They say no and the guy goes to get his business card. Comes back and says he'd do it for 26,900 (again, after tax, tag, and title) and I still held at 26,400. At that point, they let me walk out the door.
I'm looking for feedback. Be as brutal as you have to be. Did I do the smart thing. Again, this was an SE with an XSP body kit. I just didn't see the value at the prices they were countering with.

Just wait, they will call you. You can also go try to find the same car at a different dealership and try to make the same deal.

If the Toyota Care Package isn't something you want/need then find a cheaper car. Simple as that.
You can always walk as long as you don't say something really rude. They aren't gonna turn down a sale if you come back.
Hell, you could be really damn rude and they'd most likely sell you the car anyway

I think they came As far as they could with stil making some money to come down that far off their number to meet yours. Take the deal, arguing 500$ over 5 years if you are financing is silly

I have never known USAA to be cheaper or better than anything. I know former and current service men and women who swear by it simply for the service affiliation it used to have but I always found cheaper and better products than theirs by shopping around. I don't know specifically about the car buying service but buying a car isn't rocket surgery and you shouldn't need a service for that.

Call another dealership and tell them you were offered $26,100 and ask if they can beat it. Someone will likely match that or give you an even 26k. I did that with Honda after spending hours with a couple different dealerships.

They called me back and left a voicemail just asking me to call back. I guess I just don't know how to value that XSP kit.
If I look at the following site, the invoice on a base SE is $22,529.
LINK
When I asked to see the invoice price on the car they showed me, he showed me 27.7k on his computer, but no specifics on how they derived that number.
Is that kit really adding 5k at invoice? I just find that hard to believe.
I'm looking at a Honda Accords too and want to see what I can get out of those guys.

Invoice is bullshite. They get discounts from the manufacturer that make the car much cheaper for them than invoice.

They will give in to you on the last day of the month. Be strong and firm on the price. Tell them to call you only if they will do YOUR deal............. They will.

The big dealerships get funny money from manufacturers to make deals with. Invoice is dog shite.

A guy I work with tried it recently. He ended up getting a better deal from the dealer.

This. Love my usaa. Had them for almost 20 years. But I consistently get better interest rates and prices on my own. They are great for banking and car insurance but they can be downright sketchy for other services.

They are directly tied to TrueCar. When I get a lead in, it comes over as a TrueCar/USAA lead. When I call them, I'm supposed to say that I'm the local USAA dealer rep. It's a sham, but I'll still sell you the car if you think you're getting the best deal, that's all that matters to the customer.
