No it doesn't. Their model requires overspending to make it function. The problem is the model which is mostly designed around political payoffs and corruption.

The people who give this country its worst health outcomes are the ones who have or are eligible for "Free" or heavily subsidized healthcare.

Its those on gubment care who are in the worst of health.

That's 100% correct.

Bernie would increase taxes on the poor and middle class. and you lied.

quote:

Sanders: “Is healthcare free? No, it is not. So what we do is exempt the first $29,000 of a person’s income. You make less $29,000, you pay nothing in taxes. Above that, in a progressive way, with the wealthiest people paying the largest percentage, people do pay more in taxes.”

quote:

Bernie Sanders is once again calling for extreme tax hikes to pay for his plans, this time for a government-run single payer health care system. The plan will come in at a cost of $1.38 trillion per year and will impose across the board tax hikes, including:

what a fricking lie.

-An income tax rate of 52%

-Taxing ALL capital gains as ordinary income, meaning the current top capital gains rate of 23.8% would jump to 52%

-Massive hike in the Death Tax

-American families making as little as $28,900 per year will face a 2.2 percent tax on their income

-A $630 billion tax hike aimed at employers, which will just end up hitting workers

-Sanders also calls for more tax complexity and more tax brackets: 37%, 43%, 48% and of course the 52%

quote:

The report, from the libertarian Mercatus Center, found that Sanders' plan to extend Medicare to all Americans would increase federal healthcare costs by $32.6 trillion from 2022 to 2031 if implemented as written.

The fact that you believe a career politician who has never held a real job in his life and is an idiot, speaks volumes.

I don't know how many times you need to be told.

The government taking full control over anything automatically increases costs and/or decreases quality of service. That's not even some sort of controversial statement. It's an absolute fact just like the sun rising in the east

Yep, anyone actually believing Bernies plan would save money is a fricking moron of the highest order.

Agreed. I'm on a group health plan with the largest health insurer in my State. My monthly premium is now over $1700. Me, my wife, and my almost 17 y/o kid. None of us have any chronic issues. I see my doc every 6 months, my wife sees hers every 4. Just routine check ups and labs.

Your health used to be underwritten. So if you were healthy you'd pay less. Obamacare did away with all of that.

Also I've paid home insurance for 25 years without a single claim. When disaster strikes, I'll be glad I did.

A bout of cancer or sever heart issue will set you back hundreds of thousands. Then you'll be glad you had it.

So what I’m hearing is you don’t have any actual reason to believe that we can’t make UHC work other than well this is what you think.

Let's talk about the programs the federal government runs well, before we talk about them taking over another 20% of the economy.

The best example we have is the VA.

And this is sill only about 1/3 of what we now pay. I'd love to hear how Bernie proposes to cut costs by 2/3, instantly, and across the board. And no, margins in healthcare are no where near 66%

Just look at what the government has done with education. I'm sure they'll get it right for medical care, tho. Next time will be different.

I cannot imagine hitching my healthcare to a government with $30 trillion in debt. Bernie bros like to say healthcare makes compromises for profit. As if government doesn't have a motive to not treat you.

It doesn't have to work, it just has to fool enough people into voting for it. That seems to be the progressive pattern.

I think the actual cost when put under a microscope came out to over 30 trillion over 10 years.

We’re 15 pages in, and nobody has mentioned the costs associated with US R&D subsidizing the world? All leading edge drugs and equipment are developed here and then they’re offered at a substantial discount to the rest of the world. The US also pays healthcare providers a premium. The argument is nobody wants a second rate doctor. The reality is 99% DGAF…unless they have that 1 in a million ailment they need diagnosed.

For those who want single payer in the US, taxes on the poor and middle class will have to go up dramatically. That is the only way.

Medicare for All.

I'm over 65. And I'm on medicare. My deductible is about 200 bucks a year. I pay under $300 a month for Part B and medicare. Maybe another 40 bucks for Part D. It's way cheaper than my old company insurance. My wife who is under 65 is on my old plan. She has to hit an ungodly deductible of thousands before it's no out of pocket expense. Medicare is pretty painless. But the government knows everything about my health situation. But they don't bug me about it other than to prevent renewal of any long term prescription before it's time.

Once they move all of us to socialized medicine I'm sure it will get a lot more expensive.
