I've been developing a theory that humanity has already peaked as it relates to intelligence and, more subjectively, morality. Sort of like how Europe entered the dark ages post-antiquity. Even amid what should be the information age, we have a subset of the populace that is this stupid.
This is how we get our current political environment of Trump and AOC/Beto. Along with some of the other issues plaguing our world, it sincerely makes me question having kids.

Is there going to be any legal recourse for a kid that gives it to another kid that was too young for the vaccine and the young kid dies? I certainly hope the parents of the non-vaccinated are liable.

This shite just saddens me.

The thing is, they put hundreds of thousands of people at risk because Jenny McCarthy and some disgraced former doctor claimed vaccinations cause autism.
Sure, I'm a healthy vaccinated adult so I'll be fine, but my 7 month old, despite the vaccinations, would still have to be hospitalized from the measles. So would elderly people with compromised immune systems. And people with cancer going through chemo.
If someone in real life told me they are against vaccinations, which hasn't happened yet, I don't think I would respond in a very mature fashion. I wouldn't be able to contain it.

Not millions but hundreds of thousands.
During the 1950s and 1960s it was likely in the millions, there were over 500,000 cases reported annually until around 1964, but the majority of cases were never reported. Most kids of that era like myself never went to see a doctor just because they had the measles. Everyone got it, parents knew what it was. It was a rite of childhood, we just endured it, but there were obviously some that had complications, but I never heard of anyone that did in the small town I lived in.

I deal with this every day. Explaining the value of vaccines to an individual against them is like reasoning with a toddler.
Vaccine hesitancy is a legitimate global health threat.

I'd send this link to one particular anti-vax mom, who always seems to know more than everyone else, but I'm sure she's already formulated a conspiracy about these events.

Trolling her with links to TD threads will be as effective as providing links to scientific literature.

Yeah but how low are autism rates?
Posted on 4/22/19 at 6:25 pm to Tigerbait357
This outbreak has very little to do with American parents not vaccinating their children and almost everything to do with undocumented immigration.

The low IQ trump voters are out in full force.
From the gd article:
quote:
New York City is home to the largest measles outbreak in the country, and cases primarily centered among Orthodox Jews living in certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. As of Thursday, there have been 359 confirmed cases of measles in those areas.
Those orthodox Jews jumping the Texas/Mexico border to get to NYC.

Anti vaxxers worry about autism yet they’re already retarded

You have any idea how many undocumented immigrants live in New York? This orthodox Jew meme is hilariously pathetic.
Who are the carriers bringing it to the Jew babies?liberals trying to scapegoat Jews for political reasons, a historic habit.

quote:quote:I guess you stopped reading before the part "Since measles were effectively eliminated in the year 2000"
That headline highlights part of the overall issue that got us here. A news outlet posts a headline "US will soon break record for measles cases in a year"
The headline "US will soon break record for measles cases in a year" does not nor is the article clear, particularly when the headline is the lead in and there is no reference to when greater numbers occurred.

And also, I have no problem with the media sensationalizing this because it is fricking stupid these parents won't protect their kids and the children who are too young or medically unfit to receive the vaccine.
Or the same people will say, see they are even lying about setting record.
There is no excuse for poor, inaccurate reporting. Showing the real damage that vaccines have eliminated is far more convincing than sensationalism which foster less trust.
The truth is, most of these people have never seen the devastation associated with these childhood diseases. I'm 57 and I really haven't. My mom, on the other hand, remembers relatives and friends who were impacted by things like polio and measles.
I really am besides myself about this stuff. I know otherwise good people who I care about who have fallen into this and cannot be convinced otherwise. My daughter and I have discussed this and she concluded, much to my delight, that my grandson will not be interacting with the children of any of these people.

Are you unaware that both Brooklyn and Queens have very large Hispanic communities? Do you think there are more orthodox Jews or undocumented immigrants living in these areas? Do you even know what an orthodox Jew is?
