US vs. Austrian made Glocks

Would you buy a US assembled Glock over an Austrian one? I typically try to avoid American made products with complex components, like cars, for obvious reasons…

I have a 17 and 43x both assembled in Austria.

This sounds like a political question.

If it’s just assembled, I’d buy a glock that was assembled literally anywhere. There is nothing to them and really no way to assemble them incorrectly. Even if something was wrong, it would take about 10 minutes, your first time, to completely disassemble it and put it back together again.

As a former Glock certified instructor who has shot hundreds of them, I would not give that issue any thought. The main difference would be in the slide coating. Tennifer requires some chemicals which cannot be used in the USA., so there is another similar protective coating done here. This was an issue briefly, but has been resolved, so even that is minor.
Look at size, caliber and features that you desire before worrying about where the gun was manufactured.

It is not. The barrels, slides, and frame are made in the US. Those are made from materials sent from Austria. The G42 is made completely in the US for import reasons. The factory is built almost identically to the one in Austria. It is important to note that Glock manufactures every single component of their guns, even molding the cases. I forgot earlier the cases for the US guns are made in Smyrna also.
I have 4 US models (but no G42) and 9 Austrian models spanning back to the mid-'90s, and outside of the markings, I can't see any difference.

You shouldn't own any firearm if you are this retarded.

What you really should be avoiding is anything complex put together with Unionized labor. WSJ? study did a comparison on Ford/Mazda (I think) electrical failures in vehicles produced in unionized vs. non-unionized plants. Defect rate in union plant produced vehicles was significantly higher than non unionized. That was published around '08 I believe.

Just buy a Hi-Point. The quality is pretty... consistent.

You can always throw it at people and inflict some serious damage.

This is the sane guy who wanted the US auto makers to die and wants to buy a Chinese electric car.

Doesn't matter.
I have a G27. They are simple. That's what makes them great.

It is a nitride coating which is, supposedly, better than tennifer.

Not sure what makes you think "Glock" and "complex" belong in the same sentence. It's about as simple as you can get for an auto loading pistol.

I need to ask, what have people heard about the Glock 17 Long Slide pistol? Thinking about picking that up in a couple of months, mainly because I love the look of long slide pistols.

My grandpa was from Austria. When I was in Argentina a few years ago I met a blonde aryan lookin' guy with the same last name as me. Didn't get the chance to ask him how his family ended up in Argentina but I had a few ideas on how it happened.
