I know someone who used to own some avocado land in Michoacán. She says it’s basically all controlled by the cartels, so she got out. Cartels know it’s bad for business to threaten US inspectors, but they really don’t give a shite about the families running the places. Hopefully the cartel apologizes, cuz I’m need my avocados. I’m hooked now.

it's because the US inspector got a death threat, related to the cartels. So it's actually somewhat tied to the drug issue, not something independent of it.
