Reporter needs to learn what repelling is.
And after he does that he can study up on rappelling.

There’s literally less than 500 people there too

Yeah. Came here to see if what I saw was legit.
It did not look survivable. Maybe what 25% of the force/speed was taken away versus just falling??

No idea what happened but no need to even risk it for a damn college football game.
It's done all the time, including by ROTC students all around the country. If done properly, you could lean out over the edge of Tiger Stadium, completely pass out, and be lowered safely to the ground. It's not like they were fast roping from 170'.

Mike the Tiger, or probably a firefighter wearing a Mike suit, used to do that in the PMAC at basketball games regularly.
With proper safety equipment. And it was a state trooper in the costume. A few years ago when they brought it back they lowered Mike down in a harness instead of him actually rappelling down. It was much less cool than the way they did it on the 80s (and maybe early 90s). But likely the only way it passed safety review/risk management.

YOU have NO BALLS.
He knows. He's been DV 54 times, and has probably done nothing in his life but apply for college aid, with help, plug in his car at his mom's house, and have someone else tell his ex girlfriend he needs time to find himself.
