Conspiracy theory or you being an idiot for thinking all cops are here to protect and serve?

Maybe the U.S. has more a-hole citizens.

Fair enough. Who would evaluate whether or not a shooting was justified? The court?

I am currently googling a stat in how many LEO were 1)charged for an OIS and 2)convicted. I suspect both numbers to be very low.

Wouldn't you hope that to be the case? OR do you think there should be 984 charges?

984 killed. Roughly 2 million violent crimes in the US in 2015. Sounds like the cops need to hit the range.

Obviously an unbiased article. I especially love how the first paragraph is about the police killing an unarmed man and they paint it as horrid. Then later they tell the whole story and how the man disobeyed 24 orders including asking what was in his hand and to stop advancing or they would shoot.

Do those number look into how justified the killing was? Numbers without context are pretty useless.

But they make the pussies on the left feel righteous about their anger towards cops.

Or maybe the UK's crime rate is much higher because they don't thwart it.

If I was naive enough to think that police are always in the right, and that their interests are always in line with the public good, then sure I would believe that.

Unfortunately, public safety and public service are often not the reasons that these things happen. I think the shootings in Marksville and South Carolina are good examples of that. Had those happened just a few years ago they would have been pushed under the rug, along with however many more where videos got deleted and dashcams/bodycam stayed off.

Believe what? There are two thoughts in what you quoted, neither of which say police are always right.

Do you feel these to make up a majority of the 984?

Can I make impossible to prove statements too? Or is that something only you can do?

People in the US are much more agressive than in the UK and also have guns. And guns aren't the reason people are more violent. How can simpletons not understand this?

Maybe it's easier to use non lethal force against a violent person who doesn't have a gun

Don't commit crimes and you won't be shot at or killed by police

If they are violent then I have no problem with them being shot. If a cop arrives to the situation, tells you to calm down and put your hands up, you should listen. If you disobey them then what happens after that is on you and not them

It kind of is actually. Or just listen to the person with a gun and in a position of authority. That's how it's avoided

Lack of violence in general is not surprising, as the UK is a VERY homogeneous country:

quote:

Nationality noun: Briton(s), British (collective plural)
adjective: British

Ethnic groups: white 87.2%, black/African/Caribbean/black British 3%, Asian/Asian British: Indian 2.3%, Asian/Asian British: Pakistani 1.9%, mixed 2%, other 3.7% (2011 est.)

Religions: Christian (includes Anglican, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist) 59.5%, Muslim 4.4%, Hindu 1.3%, other 2%, none 25.7%, unspecified 7.2% (2011 est.)

Languages: English
note: the following are recognized regional languages: Scots (about 30% of the population of Scotland), Scottish Gaelic (about 60,000 in Scotland), Welsh (about 20% of the population of Wales), Irish (about 10% of the population of Northern Ireland), Cornish (some 2,000 to 3,000 in Cornwall) (2012)

Literacy:
definition: age 15 and over has completed five or more years of schooling
total population: 99%
male: 99%
female: 99% (2003 est.)

Literacy level is the most accurate predictor re: use of deadly force in law enforcement, IMO.

Stupid is as stupid does.

It's such an absurd stance. Failure to fully cooperate with every command shouldn't be a death sentence. What if the cop is in the wrong? What if you're pulled over illegally? There is entirely too much discretionary authority put in the hands of underpaid, under-educated and undertrained people with guns.
