This is nothing new. The Ford ecoboost was developed with a DOE loan.

Will any of that cash go towards making the EV's not catch fire if caught in a storm near salt water?

Ban hybrids and ICE cars if you actually care about preventing vehicle fires.

This loan appears to only be a life raft for UAW workers.

Most govt subsidization is a gift to special interest with the exception of a few that consumers can get.

So you agree that this has nothing to do with advancing tech or helping the general population at large and more with buying votes for an upcoming election?

Mostly buying votes. I’ve been a little surprised that this administration has incentivized domestic manufacturing, which I like. Honestly that domestic manufacturing and the nuclear PTC are the only things I like about any of this.

Almost like they ctrl+c and ctrl+v some policies from the previous administration that they admonished as being pure evil.

How much if that goes to state power grids so we don’t have blackouts constantly when everyone transitions to EV?

If they could only debate actual policy during their election campaigns but that will never happen. One of the reasons that I really liked Trump back in 2016 was that he wanted to squash the TPP and institute a cap on H1B visas.

TPP was killed but H1B have been opened back up which is a killer for skilled labor in this country. Not sure if the salary floor was ever implemented for H1Bs but I’d like to see it happen.
